What does ViaNeoForgePlus add?

ViaNeoForgePlus

Connect to Minecraft servers from almost every era — from Classic, Alpha, and Beta to modern releases, April Fools versions, combat snapshots, and Bedrock Edition — using a modern NeoForge client.

ViaNeoForgePlus is a client-side NeoForge port of ViaFabricPlus, powered by the ViaVersion protocol stack.

In addition to translating network protocols, it applies compatibility fixes for movement, block and entity interactions, visuals, and other version-specific behavior. This helps older servers feel much closer to how they originally played.

Supported server versions

  • Release: 1.0.0 through the latest supported release
  • Beta: b1.0–b1.8.1
  • Alpha: a1.0.15–a1.2.6
  • Classic: c0.0.15–c0.30, including CPE
  • April Fools: 3D Shareware, 20w14infinite, and 25w14craftmine
  • Combat snapshots: Combat Test 8c
  • Bedrock Edition: 1.26.30 (some features are not yet supported)

Support for newly released Minecraft versions is usually added shortly after the underlying ViaVersion projects are updated.

Installation and usage

  1. Install the appropriate version of NeoForge.
  2. Place the ViaNeoForgePlus JAR in your instance's mods folder.
  3. Open the Multiplayer screen.
  4. Select the ViaNeoForgePlus button and choose the protocol version you want to use.

Settings are also available through NeoForge's mod list. The primary command is /vianeoforgeplus; /viafabricplus is retained as a compatibility alias.

The distributable JAR is self-contained—no additional ViaVersion mods are required.

Important information

  • Client-side only: servers do not need to install this mod.
  • Multiplayer only: singleplayer worlds are not affected.
  • NeoForge only: do not install the Fabric version alongside it.
  • Cross-version server resource packs are not supported.
  • Bedrock support is incomplete and some features may be unavailable.
  • Some servers or anti-cheat systems may not allow protocol-translation mods. Use responsibly and at your own risk.
