About this project

What does World Reset add?

World Reset

World Reset is a lightweight Minecraft modification that adds a simple way to quickly reset your world and start over.

The goal of World Reset is to make restarting worlds fast, consistent, and convenient. It can be useful for speedrunning, practicing, testing, challenge runs, development, or simply starting a fresh attempt without having to completely restart the game.

Features

Instant World Reset

World Reset adds a keybind that allows you to immediately reset the current world.

Instead of manually leaving the world, deleting or recreating it, and starting again, you can use the reset key to quickly create a fresh world and continue playing.

Fast Restarts

World Reset is designed around minimizing the time between attempts.

This makes it especially useful for speedrunning and practice, where you may need to restart dozens or even hundreds of times while learning a route or testing a strategy.

Consistent Starting Conditions

Supported versions can provide deterministic starting conditions, such as a fixed player spawn position or other version-specific behavior.

This can be particularly useful for speedrun categories where every attempt needs to begin from the same conditions.

Multiple Minecraft Versions

World Reset is designed to support a wide range of Minecraft versions, including extremely early versions of the game.

Because Minecraft's internal code changed significantly throughout its development, each supported version may use a version-specific implementation of World Reset.

The goal is to eventually support as many Minecraft versions as possible while keeping the mod lightweight and focused on its core purpose.

Speedrunning

World Reset was originally created with Minecraft speedrunning in mind.

Quickly restarting an attempt can save a significant amount of time when practicing or performing repeated runs. Instead of restarting the entire game after every failed attempt, World Reset allows you to reset the world and immediately begin another attempt.

This can also make older versions of Minecraft much more practical to speedrun.

Compatibility

World Reset supports Minecraft versions individually.

Check the version list on this project to find the version you want to use. A World Reset file made for one Minecraft version should not be assumed to work with another version unless it is specifically listed as supported.

Installation

World Reset may use different installation methods depending on the Minecraft version.

Older versions may require manually replacing modified class files, while newer versions may use a more traditional mod-loading system.

Always follow the installation instructions provided for the specific Minecraft version you are using.

Current Development

World Reset is an ongoing project. More Minecraft versions and additional functionality may be supported in the future.

The primary goal will always remain the same:

Make restarting Minecraft worlds as fast and easy as possible.
