About this project

What does Curses Revamped add?

Summary

Curses Revamped reworks Minecraft's vanilla curses so Curse of Vanishing and Curse of Binding matter while you are still alive. This is the Base mod and required foundation for Curses Revamped: Additional Curses.

Description

Curses Revamped

Vanilla curses are no longer throwaway enchantments.

Curses Revamped is the Base version of the mod. It keeps the focus on Minecraft's two vanilla curses: Curse of Vanishing and Curse of Binding.

Instead of adding a large content pack by itself, Base makes the vanilla curse system more meaningful, mostly server-side, and compatible with a separate addon for players who want the full custom curse chaos.

What This Page Is For

This page is for the Base mod.

Install this if you want:

  • Reworked Curse of Vanishing
  • Reworked Curse of Binding
  • Mostly server-side vanilla curse gameplay
  • Optional client tooltip/debug support
  • The required dependency for Curses Revamped: Additional Curses

If you want custom curses, fake hidden enchantments, curse research, cursed books, Ominous Offering, and the full expanded curse list, install the separate addon:

Curses Revamped: Additional Curses

Important For 1.2+

The Additional addon requires Curses Revamped Base 1.2.0 or newer.

Addon page: Curses Revamped: Additional Curses

If you are installing Additional, install both files for your loader:

  • Fabric: Curses Revamped Base + Curses Revamped Additional
  • NeoForge: Curses Revamped Base + Curses Revamped Additional

Base can be used alone. Additional cannot be used alone.

Client And Server

Base is mostly server-side.

On a server, clients generally do not need the Base mod to join. If players install Base client-side, they get extra tooltip/debug support for the vanilla curse reworks.

For the Additional addon, both server and client installs are recommended because the addon adds custom UI, fake curse tooltips, scrambled curse names, and research screens.

Curse of Vanishing Rework

Curse of Vanishing

Curse of Vanishing is no longer only a death punishment.

When a cursed item loses durability, it has a chance to vanish immediately. The lower the item's durability gets, the more dangerous the curse becomes.

This makes Vanishing matter in normal survival and even hardcore, where the vanilla "vanish on death" behavior often does not matter because dying is already the end.

Curse of Binding Rework

Curse of Binding

Curse of Binding now leans into the idea that the item does not want to break or leave you.

Binding checks your worn armor and can combine defensive stats, enchantments, and active effects to make the bound item harder to destroy.

The stronger your worn gear is, the harder it can be to destroy the cursed Binding item.

Mending Support

Mending on worn armor can also help repair the bound item.

Level 1 Mending is intentionally reduced so it stays useful without becoming free durability forever.

Shared 1.2 Foundation

Shared Base Systems

In 1.2, Base became the shared foundation for the addon.

Base owns shared systems such as:

  • Vanilla curse behavior
  • Vanilla curse tooltip support
  • Shared cursed boon data
  • Shared curse discovery data
  • Admin/debug command support
  • Hidden config defaults

The Additional addon uses these shared systems instead of duplicating them.

Debug Command

Version 1.2 adds:

/cursesrevamped debug item

This command helps admins and creative testers inspect the held item's enchantments, curse data, boon data, and debug information.

Config

Hidden Config

Base uses a plain hidden config file:

cursesrevamped.properties

These settings are intentionally not exposed through Mod Menu.

The Base config includes options for vanilla curse debug messages and shared settings used by the Additional addon.
