About this project
What does SecondThought: Command Confirmation Guard add?
SecondThought: Command Confirmation Guard
Prevent an accidental /clear, /kill, /stop, /ban, or other command from
being sent with a single press of Enter.
SecondThought is a lightweight client-side command confirmation mod. When a
command requires confirmation, its first submission is blocked locally. Send
the exact same command again within the configured time window to confirm it.
It works in singleplayer and on multiplayer servers without requiring the
server to install the mod.
See the guard work
Real gameplay shows the first protected /clear being blocked. The default confirmation window is 5 seconds; repeat the exact command to confirm. This is not an undo or backup tool.
Features
- Protect manually typed commands before they reach the server
- Require the exact same command and arguments for confirmation
- Choose which commands are direct and which require confirmation
- Change the active mode instantly with a local in-game command
- Save mode changes automatically to the JSON configuration
- Show only the command root in warnings, not potentially sensitive arguments
- Fall back to safe defaults if the configuration is invalid
- No telemetry, network service, Fabric API, or server-side dependency
Command modes
| Mode | Behaviour |
|---|---|
ALL_DIRECT |
Send every command immediately |
LISTED_DIRECT |
Send only configured direct commands immediately; confirm all others |
NONE_DIRECT |
Require confirmation for every manually typed command |
LISTED_PROTECTED |
Confirm only configured protected commands; this is the default |
Change modes without restarting:
/secondthought mode all
/secondthought mode listed
/secondthought mode none
/secondthought mode protected
/secondthought status
/secondthought help
These control commands are handled locally and are never sent to the server.
Default protection
The default configuration protects these command roots:
ban, ban-ip, clear, deop, kill, op, stop, whitelist, worldborder
Edit config/secondthought.json to change the protected or direct command
lists and the confirmation window. Existing configuration files from earlier
0.1.0 test builds remain compatible.
Requirements
- Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.11
- Fabric Loader 0.19.3 or a compatible later 0.19.x release
- Java 21
- Client-side installation only
Fabric API is not required.
Scope and compatibility
SecondThought guards normal commands manually submitted through the Minecraft
client. It does not grant permissions, replace a server permission plugin,
classify every modded command automatically, or undo a command that has already
run. Commands triggered by clickable text or sent unattended by another mod are
outside version 0.1.0's scope.
