About this project

What does MAtmos - Ambient sound add?

Matmos Ambient Sounds completely transforms Minecraft’s soundscape by adding more than 160 immersive and dynamic ambient sound effects.
Instead of static stereo sounds centered on the player, Matmos generates a true spatial sound environment that reacts to the world around you.

The mod constantly analyzes where you are:
✔ Biome (forest, desert, swamp, etc.)
✔ Indoors or outdoors
✔ In caves or the Nether
✔ On a cliff, near water, in dense forests…

And adapts the audio experience in real time.

You will hear:

  • Birds, crows, crickets, wolves, frogs, insects
  • Branches creaking, wind gusts, weather systems, storms
  • Cave echoes, reverb, underground ambiance
  • Surface and underwater player interaction sounds
  • Villages, items and inventory handling
  • Nether atmosphere and environmental effects
    … and more every update!

Every sound is spatial and can move, approaching or fading depending on where the source is located.
