Overview

Sweaty Feet adds a new mechanic: wear boots too long and your feet will sweat. Sweaty Feet (the effect) escalates through three levels; leave it unchecked and you'll catch a fungal infection that can even spread to other players. Meanwhile the sweat can be poured into bottles as items, brewed into buff drinks, or you can just fill a Wash Basin and wash your feet.

At a Glance

  • Three-level Sweaty Feet: wearing boots for 2/4/6 cumulative minutes triggers levels 1/2/3; the Nether's heat doubles the sweat buildup; the higher the level, the worse it gets.
  • Level-3 transmutation: pouring sweat at level 3 transmutes it by boot material into five flavored bottles (Rich / Rusty / Gilded / Crisp / Sulfurous). Collecting all flavors is the collection gameplay — a full set grants the "From Funky to Rank" advancement.
  • Fungal infection: keep wearing boots past level 3 and you catch Foot Fungus — damage over time, sneezing, and it spreads to your friends; the only cure is soaking in Floral-Water-treated wash water.
  • Foot-washing system: a Wash Basin + Stool set with a seated soaking animation; while soaking, your lower body "removes its pants" using a skin tone of your choice (customizable).
  • Collecting: use a bucket to scoop up the used foot bath water (not recommended for drinking).

Mechanics in Detail

The whole gameplay is one loop: wear boots → sweat builds up → pour sweat or ferment → neglect it and get infected → soak to cure.

  1. Sweating: wearing any boots starts a timer; 2/4/6 cumulative minutes reach Sweaty Feet levels 1/2/3 (configurable). In the Nether sweat builds up twice as fast. From level 2 your feet slip; at level 3 holding sweaty boots causes nausea, and sweaty boots dropped on the ground emit a stench.

  2. Pouring: hold a sweated-in boot in your main hand and an empty glass bottle in your offhand, then sneak + right-click to pour out a Sweat Bottle. Levels 1–2 only yield plain bottles; at level 3 the sweat transmutes — leather/iron/gold/diamond/netherite boots produce the matching flavored bottle (Rich / Rusty / Gilded / Crisp / Sulfurous), each with its own color and bonus effect; boots of other materials still give a plain level-3 bottle.

  3. Fermenting: craft Fermented Boots from leather boots + sugar (1 armor point, same as leather) and wear them to ferment your sweat. Pouring at level 3 with Fermented Boots yields a buff Drink instead of a flavored bottle — granting Speed, Jump Boost, Strength and Luck all at once.

  4. Infection: keep wearing boots past level 3 (60 more seconds by default, configurable) and you catch Foot Fungus: damage over time, constant sneezing, bare feet stink, and nearby players get infected. The fungus never heals on its own, and taking your boots off doesn't help.

  5. Washing sweat off: take your boots off and stand in water or on a Wash Basin to wash — 15 seconds base, longer at higher levels (30s at level 2, 45s at level 3); leaving the water resets the timer. Pouring sweat does not remove Sweaty Feet, and taking boots off only degrades one level per 60 seconds — soaking is the direct cure.

  6. Curing fungus: clean water won't touch the fungus. Craft Floral Water (water bottle + any two small flowers), pour it into a filled Wash Basin to make medicinal wash water, then sit on the Stool and soak barefoot — this clears both Sweaty Feet and the fungus. Short of commands, it's the only cure.

  7. Washing boots: toss sweaty boots into water and they wash clean automatically; the time required scales with the sweat level.

Items

Item How to get Use
Sweat Bottle (plain levels 1–3 + 5 flavors) Pour from sweaty boots Drink to restore hunger or get nausea/poison/flavor effects; also a prank item
Drink Pour at level 3 with Fermented Boots Grants Speed / Jump Boost / Strength / Luck all at once
Fermented Boots Leather boots + sugar 1 armor point; wear them to ferment sweat, for brewing the buff drink
Floral Water Water bottle + any two small flowers Pour into a Wash Basin to make medicinal wash water; the only cure for fungus
Diluted Floral Water Scooped from the basin after mixing in Floral Water Diluted Floral Water, same use
Wash Water Bucket Scoop up the dirty water after a soak Not recommended for drinking
Wash Basin & Stool Crafted The foot-soaking set: fill the basin with water (or medicinal wash water), sit on the stool, take your boots off and soak

Configuration

Press J in game to open the config screen. It has four tabs:

  • Sweaty Feet: sweat times (default 120/240/360 s), degradation speed, slipping, particles
  • Fungus: toggle, damage, infection range & interval, stench
  • Items & Drinks: bottle effect durations (nausea/poison), drink duration, boot washing
  • Visuals: soak undressing, skin tint, eyedropper color picker, debug toggles

In multiplayer the server config takes precedence (config/sweatyfeet-server.toml on the server); the client config only affects local display (e.g. the skin tint).
