About this project
What does Progressive Portals add?
Progressive Portals
Ever had players rush the Nether and the End in the first twenty minutes of a new server? Progressive Portals locks the Nether and the End for each player individually until they have completed the required vanilla advancements—keeping progression paced without disabling portals for players who have earned them.
Key Features
- Per-Player Dimension Locks: Tracks requirements per player, so one player unlocking the Nether or End does not bypass progression for everyone else.
- Smart Portal Rejection & Feedback:
- Nether Portal: If a player steps into a Nether Portal without the required advancements, the portal is broken, the player is pushed back to their last safe Overworld position, and chat displays only the specific advancement(s) they are still missing.
- End Portal: If a player enters the End without the required advancements, they are safely teleported back out and shown the missing requirement(s).
- Creative Mode Bypass: Players in Creative mode can travel between dimensions freely; switching back to Survival inside a locked dimension returns them to the Overworld.
Dimension Requirements
| Dimension | Required Vanilla Advancements | Internal IDs |
|---|---|---|
| The Nether | Diamonds! & Enchanter | minecraft:story/mine_diamond & minecraft:story/enchant_item |
| The End | Hidden in the Depths & Into Fire | minecraft:nether/obtain_ancient_debris & minecraft:nether/obtain_blaze_rod |
