About this project
What does Protection mod add?
READ BEFORE USING
Protection Overhaul is a comprehensive server-side overhaul for Minecraft 1.21.11 that transforms combat, gear progression, and the server economy.
Core Protection System
The mod replaces vanilla protection calculations with a custom, fully configurable formula. Protection no longer works the same way as in vanilla — general protection and specialized protection (fire, blast, projectile) scale differently, giving servers much finer control over how tanky players can become.
Custom Enchantments
- Armor Drain: Multiplies how much durability armor loses when the wearer takes damage. Higher levels make armor degrade significantly faster.
- Fragility: Multiplies how much durability tools and weapons lose when used.
Both can be applied via anvil (using special books) or randomly obtained from the enchanting table at high levels.
Advanced Gear Upgrades
Netherite tools and armor can be upgraded multiple times at the smithing table using netherite upgrade templates + netherite ingots. Each upgrade improves stats such as attack damage, attack speed, mining speed, durability, and armor toughness. Special support exists for maces and spears.
Full Economy System
The mod includes a complete lifesteal-style economy featuring:
- A fully functional Shop GUI
- An Auction House GUI
- A large price registry covering archaeology items, potions, armor, tools, maxed gear, spawners, and more
- Support for custom “maxed” diamond and netherite items with specific enchantment combinations
Far Lands Systems
When players travel into the Far Lands, special mechanics activate:
- Mobs gain glitch states with modified speed, health, damage, and range
- The server can spawn AI-controlled bots (including “Mafia” bots)
- Bots can be automatically assigned to factions
- Ambient and environmental effects enhance the chaotic Far Lands atmosphere
Note: Far Lands bot spawning requires the pvpbot and herobot mods to function.
Additional Systems
- Darkness systems that create atmospheric effects
- Player State tools allowing admins to set custom damage taken percentages, armor damage reduction, invulnerability, minimum hearts, plot armor, and plot weakness
- Extensive configuration options for almost every feature
- Admin commands for inspecting items, spawning bots, editing resistances, and managing the economy
Technical Details
- Fully server-side (no client required)
- Built with Fabric for Minecraft 1.21.11
- Uses mixins on LivingEntity, Anvil, Enchantment Table, and Smithing Table
- Persistent data stored via NBT on items and player state systems
Overall, Protection Overhaul turns a normal Minecraft server into a more progressive, economy-driven, and mechanically deep experience with unique combat scaling, gear progression, trading, and Far Lands content.
