About this project

What does Better Forests add?

Better Forests replaces simple and repetitive vanilla forests with constantly varying ones full of many different kinds of beautiful trees.

Sometime the trees are massive giants.

Sometimes smaller and inviting.

Sometimes stands of pure trees.

Sometimes complex mixtures.

Dense stands of trees.

And open forests you can see all the way through.

Spookier dark forests, that also differ from place to place in trees and in degree of darkness.

Even in the densest and grandest forest a new light tracking and planning system makes dayspawns rare (except in dark forest, of course).

Endless fresh scenery to explore and great backdrops for your builds.

All the tree styles can be hand-grown from saplings, using any vanilla tree material. Better Trees grow from groups of saplings in a 3x3 area, with the sapling in the middle determining the form and the saplings around it the materials.

This is now a release version. Future plans include compatibility with Fabric and NeoForge.
