About this project

What does Action-HUD add?

Action-HUD

A small, quiet HUD that shows what you're actually doing — drawing a bow, eating, mining, waiting on a fish to bite — right above your hotbar, with smooth animated progress bars. It fades in when something's happening and fades right back out when it's not. Nothing permanent, nothing in the way.

Why it exists

A lot of feedback in vanilla Minecraft is either invisible or easy to miss — how charged your bow actually is, how close a block is to breaking, whether your shield just got disabled. ActionHud surfaces all of that in one consistent, unobtrusive place instead of leaving you to guess.

Features

  • 17 tracked actions across combat, survival, movement, mining, and fishing (full list below)
  • Real animation — proper easing curves for fading and scaling, not instant snaps
  • Color feedback — bars go blue while in progress, flash green on success, flash red if interrupted
  • Fits itself to content — a short label like "Sleeping" gets a smaller panel than "Waiting for a Bite"
  • Zero mixins — every action is read from stable, public game state, nothing hooked into combat or rendering internals
  • Uses real vanilla item icons — a bow icon for drawing a bow, a pickaxe for mining, and so on, so nothing looks out of place

What it tracks

Category Actions
Combat Bow, Crossbow, Trident, Attack cooldown, Shield disabled
Player Eating, Drinking, Milk, Sleeping, Spyglass
Movement Elytra flying, Firework boosting, Swimming, Crawling, Sneaking (off by default)
Mining Block breaking progress
Fishing Casting, Waiting, Reel in!

Configuration

Bind a key to "Open ActionHud Settings" (unbound by default so it never collides with anything else) to open an in-game settings screen. From there you can adjust:

  • HUD scale, position (5 options), and opacity
  • Animation speed and progress bar thickness
  • Background darkness and color theme
  • Whether icons/percentages are shown
  • Every single action, individually, on/off

Compatibility

Client-side only — doesn't need to be installed on a server, and won't cause issues if only some players have it. With no mixins at all, it has effectively no conflict surface, so it plays well alongside Sodium, Lithium, Iris, and the rest of a typical performance modpack.
