About this project

What does Expanded Matter add?

While this mod is mainly intended to be used by other mods, it can also be used stand-alone.

It brings to VS a few minor Quality-of-Life changes plus new uses for existing materials, but nothing game-breaking.

It is safe to remove this mod from an existing game, in the worst case you have a few unknown items.

Important notices:

  • The mod itself contains not much end-user functionality unless it is used by another mod like Bricklayers, Valley of Ashes or Tailor's Delight.
  • The modid is: em
  • Changes to worldgen, like spawning additional ores only happen in newly explored chunks
  • Some of the features (like saltpeter brine) must be enabled via ConfigLib and IMGui

Expanded Matter²

This mod adds:

  • recipes to craft more sulfates and other liquids like diluted kernite
  • gypsum
  • soda, soda lye and potash lye for making fertilizer or soaps (Soap not included)
  • mercury
  • new pigments based on cadmium, manganese and copper
  • usage for more ores and stones as pigments to mark signs and chests
  • more usages for already existing ores (kernite, chromite, corundum, sulfates)
  • new crushed and powdered forms of ores and stones
  • recipes to crush and powder stones and ores
  • dye crafting recipes based on dry powders
  • more textures for items to appear in open containers
  • optional: saltpeter brine for pickling

Available with other mods:

  • wood, plant and rock ash, as well as ash sludge (fertilizer) and crafting recipes (use Valley of Ashes to enable these)

It also changes:

  • Coke burns twice as long in fires and 60% longer in forges (VS 1.22)
  • Some rare or unobtainable ores can be panned or found in loot (uranium, rhodochrosite, kernite etc.)
  • There is an alternative way to calcinate flint by first crushing it, yielding more and firing faster
  • Powdered iron rusts into iron oxide on its own after about 2 in-game weeks
  • Some rare ores spawn now (Uranium) or are not as rare as before (Kernite)

Configuration

Some options are only available if you configure them:

  • Using saltpeter brine to preserve food
  • The amount of crushed flint you can obtain
  • How long plant-based dyes need to be sealed

To enable them, you MUST install ConfigLib 1.5.x or later AND imGUI. These mods also must be kept installed so the setting is always applied.
