About this project

What does Tough Digging add?

(thumbnail art scribbled by me)

Have you ever felt your seraph uproots the very land a little too quickly, even with just your bare hands? Have you ever wondered how differently the game would play if that weren't necessarily the case? In the real world, digging a 6-foot pit in the ground by shovel can take up to 2-8 hours (this mod won't make it take THAT long, don't worry). Even if Seraphs are strong, the vanilla digging speed even with a stone shovel could genuinely compete with some of the strongest modern mining equipment in the world, given that you can terraform several yards worth of land in less than a day all by yourself.

This is a simple mod that seeks a different, potentially more immersive alternative to that somewhat by making soil, clay, gravel and sand tougher to dig up, especially without the proper tool. Digging will take significantly longer than it does in vanilla, roughly 10x as much. Even with tools, it will take a time to dig up patches of land, and will take far longer if you try to scoop it up bare handed. Handy if you want a somewhat more immersive and slow terraforming experience. Not handy if you want to feel like a living bulldozer.

Should work well with other mods. In fact, I would highly recommend playing with:

- Soil Must Fall (vertically)
- Soil Erosion
- Immersive Mining (MOST recommended. Though you might want to bump up tool durability a little bit.)

This mod is sort of experimental and simple, and probably has a target audience of exactly maybe two people in the world, but I think it serves an intriguing proof of concept. I'm sure a much more in-depth soil processing mod will be made by somebody one of these days, but until then, you can have this.
