About this project

What does Wilderlands Onus Moderatus add?

Wilderlands Onus Moderatus

**NOTICE: As of 2.0.0- No longer has One Hand dependancy. Many thanks to SatlyWater for permission to merge One Hand code into Onus Moderatus in order to put everything under one hood for greater stability and to make furture features easier to build!!

A realistic carrying capacity rebalance for Vintage Story. This mod gives the player three usable hotbar slots plus the backpack slot, while keeping the rest of the hotbar locked. It creates a meaningful but not overly punishing limit on what you can carry at once — striking a balance between convenience and realism. No more endless hotbar space. No longer restricted to a single slot. Just a sensible, grounded amount of equipment you can reasonably have ready access to while exploring the Wilderlands.

Features:
  • Three functional main hotbar slots
  • Fully functional, single backpack slot
  • Worn conatiner inventory slots no longer render when crafting grid is opened. Worn bags must be removed and set on the ground to be opened to access contents.

Planned Features:
  • Disable auto pick up to equipped bags/containers (with config toggle to enable/disable)
  • Adjust a few other small elements relating to interaction with containers on the ground.
  • Explore how to efficiently moderate stack sizes for various resources.
  • Explore defining/restricting what items/resources can go into which types of bags/containers. (No dirt block stacks in a reed handbaskets for example, because what the heck? Nor backpacks. That's what crates are for. )

Philosophy:Survival should feel weighty, but not crippling. Onus Moderatus represents what I’ve always felt is the sweet spot for inventory limitation — enough to be useful, not enough to feel like a walking warehouse.

Planned Features:
  • Adjust container/bag slot count on various bags and containers.
  • Either find a bag/container mod to recommend for use with this, or make some adjustements/addiitons to the available containers/bags.
  • Explore possibility of overhauling inventory with regard to what resources can go into which container types.

Dependency:
Requires One Hand (this mod patches and expands upon it).

None

  • As of 2.0.0, no longer depends on One Hand.
  • Strongly recommend SaltyWater's Tool Belt mod.

Credit:

One Hand does most of the heavy lifting with regard to Onus Moderatus. All that Onus Moderatus does up to this point is patch One Hand to allow for three inventory bar slots instead of one.

Big thanks to SaltyWater for the work they do!
