About this project

What does Vermicomposting add?

Got leftover, low-quality dirt you’re never going to use? Tired of trekking hundreds of blocks just to find decent soil for a new farm?

May I present to you one of nature's powerhouses of fertilization? No? Well, I'm doing it anyway!

Enter Earthworms and the art of Vermicomposting. Put those worms to work!

This is my first mod so I wanted to make something I thought was simple but missing from the base game. I have found myself in this situation too many times, finding a beautiful and locationally perfect place to live, but the soil is low quality and i have to travel a long distence to get soil worth it to farm on, especially with the berry bush changes. So I made Vermicomposting, put any barren, low, or medium soil in a barrel with some worms and get the next level up, have too much high quality soil now? Seal it as well and get compost. The ratios are still experimental but I tried to keep it balanced by having the soil's fertility dictate the conversion, barren (5%) converts in a 5:1 to low fertility (25%), low to high 2:1 and so on.

Currently it's quite experimental so if any value's should be tweaked let me know.

Compatability

Primitive Survival: I made the mod with Primitive Survival in mind, so you can use nightcrawlers or worms, and you make Worm Castings instead of Fertilizer.

Future Plans

Worm Bin: I plan on adding a worm bin to make the process more complex. Using worms, rot, dirt and food to create higher tiers of dirt, as well as adding Worm Castings for standalone use. This is intended to be a long term investment, consistent small outputs over a long time rather than one large batch, similair in function to Bee Hives where temprature (and in this case) humidity/moisture affect the speed of conversion.

Worm Condo / Worm Chateau / Worm Mansion: Name is still pending, but I intend to include vermiculture as well, to allow the players to breed worms at a slow rate either for fishing or making more worm bins. No more running around with grunting sticks.
