01 · Ownership

Publishing here doesn’t make your work ours.

You choose your licence, maintain your repository and publish your releases. We will not demand ownership, an exclusive release, or permission to relicense your work as the price of being listed. We will use project information to help people discover and use your work, with credit and links back to you.

With GitHub publishing, your files live in your GitHub Releases and your settings live in your repository. We read them; we do not need write access to your repository. GitHub is still a separate service with its own terms and availability. We cannot promise control over it.

02 · Distribution

You choose where your releases go.

We will support publishing from GitHub without requiring a CurseForge or Modrinth listing. You can also keep using those services. Choose your preferred verified download destination; other verified copies remain available to players. We will not require exclusivity or force people into our own launcher to reach your download.

We will respect the source’s download rules. We will not quietly replace your chosen file with our own upload or claim a mirror is an author-published release.

03 · Funding

No ad networks. Our own callouts are your choice.

We will not sell third-party ad slots or add ad-network tracking. CreeperHost and MineTogether are services from the people behind this website. Their service callouts are separate from ad-network advertising, and authors choose whether they appear on their project pages.

Authors can keep those links in the sidebar, move them to the footer or hide them using promotions in their repository’s .modpacksch.json. That includes partner links to those two services. We will not charge for hiding them, reduce your visibility or change your download options because you do. Other creator-chosen partners and support links remain separate.

04 · Discovery and support

Money won’t buy a better place in the catalogue.

We will not sell ranking, give our hosting customers a ranking advantage or penalise authors for working with someone else. Discovery should help people find relevant work, including new and recently maintained projects.

Your donation and support links go to you. We will not substitute our referral codes or take a cut from those links. Any fees charged by the service you choose are its own.

05 · Leaving

Being useful is how we keep you.

We will keep an author-controlled way to hide a project from the website. Your repository, release files and publishing workflow remain usable without our pages. We will not hold your files hostage, charge an exit fee or demand that you delete your other listings.

Today, "visibility": "hidden" removes a verified project from the website after the setting is processed. It is not a promise to erase upstream records, API records, other sites’ copies or every cache immediately.

06 · Privacy

Players aren’t an advertising audience to sell.

We will not sell personal browsing data or build advertising profiles. Browsing and downloading do not require a Modpacks.ch account. Author registration uses GitHub sign-in to check repository access.

We use our own Matomo service for page visits and link clicks. That is analytics, not a claim that nothing is measured. Local JAR inspection happens in your browser without uploading or running those files. Images and links may connect you to the services that provide them.

07 · Tools and trust

Useful information, without invented certainty.

We will identify sources, keep author declarations distinct from our inferences and say when we don’t know. A compatibility listing is not a guarantee that every combination runs. A shared name is not proof that two downloads are the same file.

We will document our public formats and API so other tools and launchers can use them. We will not make our own website or launcher the only way to use published project data. Service limits and upstream restrictions still apply; access does not grant rights to redistribute someone else’s files.

08 · Accountability

A restriction needs a reason. A concern deserves a review.

Author control does not mean we must list harmful files, impersonation or content we cannot lawfully carry. We will apply restrictions for those reasons, not because an author criticises us, chooses a competitor or hides our callouts. Urgent protective action may come first.

When we restrict a project, we will explain what was restricted, why and how its author can request review, except where law or an active security investigation prevents disclosure. We will share the explanation when that restriction on disclosure ends.

Email modpacksch@creeper.host with the subject “Modpacks.ch charter review”, or use the CreeperHost contact form. Include the project or page URL, the decision or commitment you are concerned about, and anything we should reconsider. Do not send passwords, access tokens or private release files.

We will review the information, check the decision against this charter and reply with the outcome and reasons. If you think we missed something, reply with the missing information and request a further review by another team member. Raising a concern will not affect your project’s ranking or access to author controls.

09 · Changes and previous revisions

No quiet rewriting of the deal.

Every revision has its own version number, date, complete text and change summary. The Previous revisions page keeps those copies available at permanent addresses. We will not overwrite an old revision, redirect it to new wording or remove it just because it has been replaced. That includes corrections: they get a new revision too.

For a material change to these commitments, we will publish the proposed text and a plain-language explanation at least 30 days before it takes effect. A notice on the charter and creator pages will link to the proposal, its intended effective date and our contact route for feedback. The current charter remains in effect during that notice period.

A spelling, formatting or clarity correction that changes no commitment can take effect immediately, with the correction recorded in the revision history. If urgent legal compliance or protection against an active security threat requires an immediate material change, we will record why notice was shortened, what changed and when it took effect. We will publish those details as soon as doing so is permitted and safe.

We will not use a charter revision to claim rights over previously published work, impose exclusivity or silently reset an author’s existing choices. A new optional use of someone’s files or a new author-controlled service callout requires their choice; silence is not permission.

Previous revisions will remain on this site for as long as Modpacks.ch operates. If we plan to close the service, we will give at least 30 days’ notice where circumstances allow, explain what stops working and provide a downloadable copy of the charter history before closure. Your GitHub repository and Releases remain separate from our service.
