BottomlessThought's Realism
Combines Terralith, Tectonic, No Cubes, Patrix, and Distant Horizons for the most visually realistic Minecraft experience possible.
Quick answer
Which BottomlessThought's Realism release should I use?
BottomlessThought's Realism-2.1.zip is a complete pack release for 1.21.1 with Fabric 0.19.3. Install it as its own launcher instance. If the creator publishes a separate server file, make sure it names this exact pack release. 159 mods in this pack file.
Pack setup
How should I set up BottomlessThought's Realism for players and a server?
Use BottomlessThought's Realism-2.1.zip as the pack version. Install the pack as its own launcher instance. The creator’s listing does not name a separate server file, so check the release notes before setting up a dedicated server. Do not upload the ordinary client folder blindly.
A pack is a matched client and server setup, not one mod with an install-side label. Keep its release, loader, manifest and overrides together.
These numbers come from the pack file you chose. “Not labelled” means we don’t know which side it belongs on—not that it is safe everywhere. The file count is not a RAM estimate.
What are the server requirements for BottomlessThought's Realism?
BottomlessThought's Realism-2.1.zip. Change the pack release and its contents or setup may change too.
The selected pack release is BottomlessThought's Realism-2.1.zip. That file is for Minecraft 1.21.1 with Fabric 0.19.3. It contains 159 mod projects. The creator’s listing does not name a separate server file. Check their notes before using one, and do not upload an ordinary client folder or rebuild the pack mod by mod. A file count cannot tell us the right RAM, CPU or storage; size the server for the players and world you actually run.

This modpack uses my Tweaks modpack as a base. That pack offers a well-optimized Vanilla+ experience. Go there for more details, everything said there applies to this pack as well. I've also developed this pack further into my Survival modpack! Check it out, I've put a LOT of work into making it a unique experience!
This modpack aims to push Minecraft beyond Vanilla+, still providing a vanilla style experience, but with a realistic, incredibly detailed world to explore along the way. Call it Vanilla++!
I've included the legendary Patrix resource pack, which adds an incredibly natural look and feel to Minecraft, with fluffy leaves and realistic animal models.
I've also included No Cubes Reloaded, which smooths out Minecraft's terrain. It feels like playing an entirely different game! Especially with Round Trees and my Round Cacti add-on.
Finally, I added Terralith and Tectonic, probably the most popular biome and worldgen combination out there, and for good reason. They work incredibly well together, and combined with Patrix and No Cubes, Minecraft has never felt more like exploring a real world!
To go along with those, I added Amplified Nether and Nullscape, to bring that same epic feeling to the Nether and the End.
Other mods include: Geophilic, Blooming Biosphere, Overhauled Overworld, and it's expansions (Cliffs and Coves, and Navigable Rivers) for better vanilla biomes. Also, Boids and Bird Boids.
List of non-CurseForge mods included in this modpack that aren't mentioned above (please go support these creators!):
Better Fletching Table ResourcePack (for the Mod, which is hosted on Curse)
Disable Portal Checks
Immersive Thunder
Lithium Fabric API
Thread Tweak
Getting the most out of this modpack:
Recommended:
I highly recommend going hereto download the Patrix Add-On, and hereto download the Patrix Models. Place both of these in the resourcepack folder before you start up the pack for the first time, and they should even be auto-loaded (DO NOT use the install button, download the files and place them in the folder. Installing will override the Patrix basic pack and your game textures will be broken.)
You should also go to the Haubna Patreon page for Physics Mod Pro. Unfortunately, the Hysteria shader isn't compatible with Water Physics, so I've disabled that. Drop the mod into your mods folder, and make sure to remove the other physics mod file!
Minecraft Setup:
Make sure you have Java set up properly for Minecraft in the CurseForge launcher. Give it as much RAM as you can spare, and under additional arguments, you should have:
-Xms8G -Xmx8G -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+UseZGC -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch -XX:+PerfDisableSharedMem -XX:-ZUncommit -XX:+ParallelRefProcEnabled
Extras:
For extra realism, try setting your character's height to match your real-world height!
Use "/attribute @s generic.scale base set " followed by a scaling value that is your Height in Meters divided by two. I'm 5'8", so my scaling value was ~0.8785.
If you have a real super beefy computer, consider trying the Rethinking Voxels or Photon shaders, both look amazing and are compatible with Distant Horizons... But, with all these other mods, performance isn't great.
Dev Log:
Future Updates:
- This modpack is mostly finished at this point. I'll keep maintaining it, but now the real work is going on over at Phase 3 - BottomlessThought's Survival.
Project State:
Likely Unsolvable Issues:
- Some blocks cull blocks around them, leaving holes in the terrain. (Pretty rare)
- No Cubes is not compatible with Distant Horizons. (Not very noticable unless you're looking for it.)
Possibly Solvable Issues:
- Some trees spawned by Terralith use Wood instead of Logs, meaning that Round Trees will not make them round.
