About this project

What does No Cubes Reloaded add?

No Cubes Reloaded is a client only cosmetic mod for Forge that makes Minecraft look less cubic by smoothing the shape of the blocks

Any changes made to No Cubes Reloaded requires a lot of time, effort and severe headaches. So please be patient and comprehensive

The Fabric version requires Cloth Config API

You can find Cadiboo's NoCubes mod here.

BEWARE

No Cubes Reloaded and Cadiboo's NoCubes Mod are two different mods!

Don't use both at the same time!

To make the mod work better with OptiFine

Altough No Cubes Reloaded is natively compatible with OptiFine, if you plan to use shaders or parallax occlusion mapping or if you get void lines between blocks or bizarre snow, you must :

  1. Stop the game
  2. Open nocubesreloadedlite-client.toml config file
  3. Find the line named texture_mode
  4. Set its value to FULL_TEXTURE instead of the default value
  5. Restart the game
  6. Go to the right OptiFine config menu
  7. You must disable better grass and you can also disable the natural textures
  8. You're ready to go!

To make the mod work better with Rubidium

  1. Stop the game
  2. Open rubidium-mixins.properties config file
  3. Add the following line at the end of the file
    mixin.features.chunk_rendering=false
  4. Restart the game

Features

  • An original alternative way to render Minecraft blocks
  • No coremod dependency
  • Natively compatible with Optifine and other mods that use coremods (because of the lack of coremod)
  • Better management of lighting/brightness and shadows
  • Custom model shape for leaves and snow
  • Seamless transition between smooth blocks and cubical blocks

FAQ

What are the differences between No Cubes Reloaded and Cadiboo's NoCubes?

No Cubes Reloaded uses the forge model API to change the way the blocks look.
So it is by default compatible with almost every other mods.

Cadiboo's NoCubes completely overrides the chunk rendering system.
So it may requires patches to work with rendering related mods.

On the other hand, Cadiboo's NoCubes is optimized to improve performances.
So in most cases you will have more FPS using Cadiboo's NoCubes.

Should I use No Cubes Reloaded or Cadiboo's NoCubes?

It is very up to you. If one of those mods gives you some trouble, you can use the other one.

Just make sure to never use both at the same time.

When will No Cubes Reloaded become open source?

It is true that No Cubes Reloaded is not yet open source, but I wanted to make it open source as soon as all of its features will be available and working, in order to give less job to potential forkers.

Where can I find the original Click_Me's No Cubes 0.8 for Minecraft 1.7.2 and Click_Me's No Cubes 1.0 for Minecraft 1.7.10?

Here.

Where can I find the patched Click_Me's No Cubes 0.8 for Minecraft 1.7.10?

Here.

Where can I find the early releases of No Cubes Reloaded releases for Minecraft 1.10.2 to 1.12.2?

Nowhere. They never were made public because they aren't ready.

To Do

A version of No Cubes Reloaded that handles collisions is also worked on.

We do not plan to backport the mod for Minecraft 1.13.2 and earlier versions of Minecraft.
