About this project

What does ResourceFarm [Crops] add?

Resource Farm – Grow Your Own Ores!

Ever get tired of heading back into the caves every single time you need more ore for tools, armor, or building projects? Resource Farm lets you grow your own ores right on your farm in a way that stays balanced and true to vanilla Hytale.

The mod adds special resource plants for every vanilla ore you can currently get in the game: Copper, Iron, Thorium, Silver, Gold, Cobalt, Adamantite, and the rest. You plant unique seeds, care for them just like normal crops (till the soil, water when needed, watch them grow through stages), and harvest them when they're ready.

The whole thing is built to fit into Hytale's general progression without breaking it directly. Early ores like Copper and Iron grow pretty quickly with basic farming setups and give you a steady but modest supply—perfect for keeping your early-game smithing going. Higher-tier ores like Thorium, Cobalt, and Adamantite take longer, higher workbench levels, or more investment in the new essence system to match how rare and deep they are in vanilla. Exploring caves for big hauls and those exciting rare veins still feels important and rewarding. The plants are just a nice sustainable bonus for when you want to keep crafting without constant mining trips.

It also introduces a brand-new essence type called ResourceEssence. When you harvest these resource plants, you'll get ResourceEssence drops (scaled similarly to how Essence of Life comes from regular food crops). You can use it to:

  • Craft better or upgraded seeds
  • Create other useful items tied to sustainable gathering

It fits right in alongside the existing essences like Life, Fire, Ice, and Void without stepping on their toes. It's purely for the farming and resource side of things.

Everything works with the vanilla farming mechanics: hoe tilling, watering cans, growth stages, workbench upgrades—the whole deal. No new biomes, no extra mobs, no massive overhauls. Just clean, thoughtful plants that feel like they belong in your farm plots from the start.

Whether you're someone who loves farming and wants to see ore growing next to your wheat, or you're playing on a server and need a way to keep the economy sustainable in the late game, Resource Farm makes gathering resources more fun and less of a grind while still respecting the core adventure feel of Hytale.

Plant some seeds, watch them grow, smelt your harvest, and keep building in Orbis! 🌱⛏️✨

More resources coming soon!
