Star Slinger

Reach new heights with Star Slinger, a grappling hook mod for Hytale that adds fluid traversal mechanics. Use the Star Slinger to launch toward distant grapple points or swing like a pendulum between them. Place Astral Tethers to design your own routes, or throw a Galaxy in a Bottle to create a web of grapple points on the fly. Whether you are exploring, building, or racing friends, Star Slinger opens up the vertical world.

What You Get

Star Slinger

A powerful grappling hook with two modes:

Launch Mode (Left-Click)
Aim at an Astral Tether within range and left-click to launch toward it. You zip through the air and keep your momentum when you arrive, so you can chain launches between multiple grapple points or use the boost to cross gaps, scale cliffs, or reach ledges that would otherwise take long detours.

Swing Mode (Right-Click)
Right-click on an Astral Tether to attach a rope and swing. Pendulum physics carry you back and forth. Use WASD to add momentum—pushing forward speeds up your swing—so you can control arc and distance. Swing across chasms, spiral around pillars, or build speed before releasing to land where you want.

Astral Tether

A small, glowing grapple point made of starlight. Place them on walls, ceilings, or in mid-air to define where your Star Slinger can hook. They emit a soft light and grow slightly when hooked, so they are easy to spot. Use them as permanent anchors in builds or as checkpoints along a route.

Galaxy in a Bottle

A throwable potion that creates a cluster of Astral Tethers where it lands. Throw it at a wall, ceiling, or floor, and a spread of grapple points appears around the impact. Ideal when you do not have Tethers placed yet: open a new path, cross an unexpected gap, or escape in a pinch by creating your own grapple points on demand.

How to Use It

Launching: Hold the Star Slinger, look at an Astral Tether within range, and left-click. You are pulled toward the closest one. The hook releases when you arrive, preserving your speed so you can jump, glide, or hook the next Tether.

Swinging: Look at an Astral Tether, right-click to attach, then move with WASD to steer your swing. Release when you are aimed where you want to go.

Galaxy in a Bottle: Right-click to throw. When it hits a surface, it shatters and spawns Astral Tethers nearby. Switch to the Star Slinger and use launch or swing to move between them.

Obtaining the Items

Star Slinger – Arcanist's Workbench (Misc): 4 Cobalt Ingots, 4 Adamantite Ingots, 4 Medium Leather.
Astral Tether – Arcanist's Workbench (Misc): 1 Essence each of Fire, Ice, Life, and the Void.
Galaxy in a Bottle – Alchemy Bench (Misc Potions): 1 Empty Potion, 1 Storm Cap, 1 Blood Cap, 1 Azure Cap.

Use Cases

Parkour Courses
Place Astral Tethers along a course—over gaps, around corners, up towers—and use launch and swing to complete it. Chain launches for speed runs, or require precise swings and releases for skill-based challenges. Build courses for yourself or for others to race.

Hidden Areas and Secrets
Put Tethers in hard-to-reach spots: behind waterfalls, inside cave ceilings, or above false roofs. Players without the Star Slinger cannot reach them, so you can hide loot, mini-bases, or Easter eggs. Use the Galaxy in a Bottle when exploring to create temporary paths into secret zones.

Exploration and Travel
Cross ravines, scale cliffs, and ascend tall structures without staircases or bridges. Use launch for straight-line speed and swing when you need to change direction or build momentum. Combine with other movement options to cover distance quickly.

Adventure Maps and Servers
Design levels that rely on grappling: chase sequences, escape sections, or arenas with multiple levels. Use Tethers as obvious checkpoints or subtle hints. Give players Galaxy in a Bottle for scripted “create your path” moments.

Build Access and Decoration
Reach high or awkward build spots without scaffolding. Use Tethers as part of the build—floating lights, grapple-themed rooms, or “astral” architecture—so traversal and aesthetics fit together.

Multiplayer Races and Challenges
Create races where everyone uses the Star Slinger. Same Tethers, same route: skill in launching, swinging, and momentum control decides the winner. Add variations like “Galaxy in a Bottle only” or “no Tethers, throw and go” for different challenges.

Installation

1. Download the latest release.
2. Place the JAR file in your Hytale server's plugins directory.
3. Restart the server.

Players can then craft or obtain the Star Slinger, Astral Tethers, and Galaxy in a Bottle and use them in-world.
