About this project

What does Temperature add?

Description

Temperature adds an environmental temperature system for Hytale survival servers. Player temperature changes over time based on biome, height, time of day, weather, water, shelter, nearby heat or cold sources, and equipped gear.

Key Features

Environmental Temperature

The plugin calculates a target temperature from several environment layers:

- Biome base temperatures. - Height and time-of-day curves. - Weather modifiers. - Shelter and underground protection. - Water and wetness penalties. - Nearby heat and cold sources.

Thermal Zones

Temperature states can apply effects when the player leaves the comfortable range:

  • Warm and cold states mark moderate thermal pressure.
  • Heatstroke can punish extreme heat.
  • Hypothermia can punish extreme cold.
  • Severe states can interact with hunger and thirst levels.

Equipment Protection

Armor and gear can provide:

  • Cold resistance.
  • Heat resistance.
  • Insulation.

These values help players prepare for different regions and conditions.

Heat Sources and Shelter

Configured heat and cold sources can affect nearby players. Campfires, torches, furnaces, lava, ice blocks, and similar objects can be tuned through registry data. Shelter and underground depth can reduce weather exposure and stabilize temperature.

Cross-Plugin Synergy

When Hunger and Thirst are installed, Temperature can modify survival conditions:

Cold conditions can increase Hunger decay.

  • Hot conditions can increase Thirst decay.
  • Low food or hydration can make extreme temperature states more dangerous.
  • Good food and hydration can unlock natural insulation effects.

Hunger, Thirst

HUD and Effects

Temperature includes HUD assets and status effects for displaying thermal state, cold pressure, heat pressure, and severe screen effects.

🛠️Configuration

Server owners can adjust:

  • Temperature drift rate.
  • Environment update intervals.
  • Heat source scan radius and interval.
  • Wetness duration and water modifiers.
  • Cold and hot thresholds.
  • Hunger and thirst decay modifiers.
  • Resistance and insulation caps.
  • Biome temperature tables.
  • Heat source definitions.
  • Equipment protection values.
  • Combo effects and status behavior.

🎮 Supported Integrations

Temperature includes support for default Hytale biome, weather, heat source, water, shelter, and armor data. It also integrates with:

  • Hunger for cold-related hunger pressure.
  • Thirst for heat-related hydration pressure.
  • Survival shared services and registry behavior.
  • MultipleHUD when available.

🚧 Development Status

The plugin is actively balanced and expanded.

Treat biome temperatures, equipment protection, thermal thresholds, and cross-plugin effects as gameplay data that can evolve between releases.
