About this project

What does GlymeraPopCap add?

GlymeraPopCap — Mob Cap with Pet Tags

Short description (214 chars, for the CurseForge summary field):

Per-chunk mob cap that keeps your world fast: culls surplus NPCs (youngest first), never touches ridden mounts, shop keepers, armor stands or other plugin-managed NPCs, and a craftable Pet Tag makes favorite creatures immune to culling and despawning. Fully configurable.

Hytale worlds fill up. Breeding pens overflow, spawn areas pile up with critters, and every extra creature costs server performance — Hytale has no native mob cap: the world only ever slows down the arrival of new natural spawns, it never cleans up what is already there.

GlymeraPopCap gives your server a real population limit — and gives your players a way to say "not this one".

The cap

  • A hard per-chunk limit for living creatures (players are never counted or touched). Every scan interval, chunks over the limit are trimmed back down — youngest entities first, so long-standing animals and builds' inhabitants survive while fresh overflow goes.
  • Ridden mounts are always safe. A boat, horse or flying mount with a player on it is never removed, no matter how crowded the chunk is.
  • Works in all loaded chunks of all worlds, silently, with no commands needed.

The Pet Tag

A small engraved iron tag, crafted at the Farming Bench (1× Greater Essence of Life + 10× Iron Ingots — deliberately expensive).

  • Hit any creature with the tag in hand to mark it. The tag is consumed, the creature takes no damage — and from that moment it is exempt from the population cap and immune to natural despawning. Night creatures, shy critters, that one perfect boar: marked is marked.
  • Hit your own marked creature again with a tag in hand to remove the mark (the consumed tag is not refunded).
  • Limited per player (default 10 tags in use). When a marked creature dies, its slot frees up automatically and you get a chat notice.
  • Marks survive server restarts and sleeping chunks. /gpop tags shows your usage.

Configuration (config.json)

Option Default Meaning
maxEntitiesPerChunk 30 Max living NPCs per chunk. 0 = remove everything that is not ridden or marked.
scanIntervalSeconds 30 How often chunks are checked (minimum 10).
maxTaggedPerPlayer 10 Pet Tag slots per player.
craftingEnabled true Set false to disable the Pet Tag recipe.
exemptRoles Glymera display NPCs NPC role names the cap never counts and never removes (shop keepers, armor stands, pets, holograms — NPCs their plugins re-create within seconds anyway). Exact names, or Name* for a whole family.

Every setting is explained right inside config.json (the _name line above each value).

Admin command: /gpop tagreset <player> clears a player's tags (OP only).

Good to know

  • Tag data lives in the plugin's own data folder — nothing is written into the world or onto the creatures, so the plugin can be uninstalled at any time without leaving anything behind.
  • The plugin ships a small asset pack (tag item, 3D model, icon, recipe); the first join after installing may take a moment while the client rebuilds its asset cache.
