CurseForge · Hytale mod
GlymeraTools
GlymeraTools adds four craftable AoE super-tools to Hytale. Pickaxe, hatchet and shovel break a 3x3x3 cube per swing, the hoe tills a 3x3 area. All with correct per-block damage, native drops and 200x durability.

◆ What is GlymeraTools?
GlymeraTools upgrades four existing top-tier Hytale tools into powerful Area-of-Effect (AoE) super-tools. When you swing an AoE pickaxe, hatchet or shovel, all 26 surrounding blocks (3x3x3 cube) receive damage simultaneously - as if you hit each one individually. When you till soil with the AoE hoe, the entire 3x3 area around the tilled block is automatically converted to farmland.
These are not custom items - they are existing Hytale tools that normally have no crafting recipe. GlymeraTools adds craftable recipes and gives them their AoE ability. The tools keep their original models, textures, stats and animations. They also have 200x the normal durability to match their enhanced power.
Each block in the AoE area receives correct per-material damage based on the tool's actual specs. A pickaxe deals full damage to stone but minimal damage to dirt. A shovel tears through soil but barely scratches rock. Drops, sounds and break effects are all handled natively by Hytale - exactly as if you hit each block yourself.
◆ The Tools
▸ Onyxium Pickaxe - 3x3x3 Mining
Mines a 3x3x3 cube of blocks with every swing. Perfect for carving out tunnels, clearing stone, and strip-mining. Deals full damage to all pickaxe-type blocks (stone, ores, brick) in the area.
▸ Onyxium Hatchet - 3x3x3 Chopping
Chops a 3x3x3 cube of blocks with every swing. Ideal for clearing forests and harvesting large amounts of wood. Deals full damage to all axe-type blocks (wood, logs, planks) in the area.
▸ Thorium Shovel - 3x3x3 Digging
Digs a 3x3x3 cube of blocks with every swing. Great for landscaping, clearing dirt, sand and gravel. Deals full damage to all shovel-type blocks (soil, grass, sand) in the area.
▸ Thorium Hoe - 3x3 Tilling
Tills a 3x3 flat area of soil whenever you till a single block. Right-click to till one block and the 8 surrounding blocks are automatically converted to farmland. Works on all grass and dirt variants. Only the Thorium Hoe has this AoE effect - regular hoes till a single block as usual.
◆ Features
- True per-material damage - Each block in the AoE area receives damage based on its own material and the tool's specs. No shortcuts - the game calculates every hit as if you swung at each block individually.
- Native drops and effects - All item drops, break sounds, and particle effects are handled by Hytale's built-in systems. Blocks drop exactly what they would if broken normally.
- 200x durability - All four AoE tools have 200 times their normal durability to compensate for the increased workload. They last a very long time.
- Craftable recipes - Each tool has a crafting recipe at the appropriate workbench. No admin commands needed - players can craft these tools through normal gameplay progression.
- Original Hytale items - These are real Hytale items with their original models, textures and animations. No custom assets or client-side mods required.
- Configurable recipes - All recipes can be customized via config.json. Change ingredients, quantities, bench type, tier requirement and crafting time.
- No cascade on hoe - The hoe's AoE only triggers on blocks you till yourself. Automatically tilled blocks do not trigger further AoE, preventing chain reactions.
◆ Crafting Recipes
▸ Onyxium Pickaxe - Workbench (Tier 3)
- 1x Mithril Pickaxe
- 5x Adamantite Bar
- 2x Storm Leather
▸ Onyxium Hatchet - Workbench (Tier 3)
- 1x Mithril Hatchet
- 5x Adamantite Bar
- 2x Storm Leather
▸ Thorium Shovel - Workbench (Tier 2+)
- 1x Iron Shovel
- 3x Thorium Bar
- 2x Heavy Leather
▸ Thorium Hoe - Farming Bench (Tier 3)
- 1x Iron Hoe
- 3x Thorium Bar
- 2x Cindercloth Fabric Scrap
All recipes can be customized in the config file. Crafting time, ingredients, bench type and tier are all configurable.
◆ Durability
All four tools receive a 200x durability multiplier:
| Tool | Durability | Base |
|---|---|---|
| Onyxium Pickaxe | 90,000 | 450 |
| Onyxium Hatchet | 90,000 | 450 |
| Thorium Shovel | 70,000 | 350 |
| Thorium Hoe | 80,000 | 400 |
The durability multiplier is applied automatically. If Hytale ever changes the base durability values, the multiplier will scale accordingly.
◆ Commands
This plugin has no commands. The AoE effect is automatic when using any of the four super-tools.
◆ Configuration
A config file is automatically generated on first start. It contains the crafting recipes for all four tools. Each recipe supports the following fields:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| bench | The crafting station (e.g. "Workbench", "Farmingbench") |
| benchCategory | The tab/category at the bench (e.g. "Workbench_Tools", "Farming") |
| benchTier | Minimum tier level required (1, 2 or 3) |
| timeSeconds | Crafting time in seconds |
| inputs | List of required ingredients with item ID and quantity |
Changes require a server restart to take effect.
◆ Installation
- Stop your Hytale server
- Copy GlymeraTools.jar into your server's
mods/folder - Start your server
- Stop and start the server a second time (required for Hytale to fully load the recipe overrides)
No additional dependencies or asset packs required — everything is included in the single JAR file.
Note: A double restart is required on first installation. Hytale needs the first start to register the internal asset pack, and the second start to fully load the recipe overrides.
◆ Technical Details
- Mining AoE uses Hytale's BlockHarvestUtils.performBlockDamage() for each of the 26 neighboring blocks, ensuring correct per-material damage calculation, item drops, and sound effects.
- The actual ItemTool is resolved from the item's asset data for accurate damage specs.
- A ThreadLocal recursion guard prevents the AoE system from triggering on its own damage events.
- Hoe AoE uses a ScheduledExecutor scanning every 200ms because Hytale's ChangeBlockInteraction (hoe tilling) fires no ECS events.
- The scanner tracks known vs. self-tilled positions to distinguish player-tilled blocks from plugin-tilled blocks, preventing cascade effects.
- Recipe overrides are generated at startup by reading the original item JSONs from Assets.zip and injecting the configured recipe data plus the durability multiplier.
