About this project

What does Open Structure add?

OpenStructures is an open worldgen structure hub. It places structures from pack spawn rules on newly generated chunks, and exposes a paste engine, admin UI, and public API for other mods.

This mod does not ship a fixed structure catalog. Content packs (and creators) add their own prefabs and rules under Server/WorldGen/OpenStructures/Prefabs/. Legacy StructureV2 rule packs under Server/WorldGen/StructureV2/Prefabs are still scanned during migration.

Note: Structures only generate in new or unexplored chunks. Existing terrain will not be updated.

What's new in 0.1.0

  • Structure hub — shared worldgen placement, prefab paste fidelity, and spawn-rule loading for OpenStructures packs
  • Admin panel (/os admin) for spawn rules, worldgen options, and per-entry overrides
  • Creator tools — in-game Guide, /os validate, /os why, and /os status to debug placement
  • Public API — other mods can depend on OpenStructures for spawn rules, paste, and events

For creators

Before you add structures, read both:

  • In-game Guide — open /os admin and open the Guide tab (schema, Pattern / GridGenerator, paths, common mistakes)

Then ship spawn rules as JSON under:

  • Server/WorldGen/OpenStructures/Prefabs/*.json

Use Pattern with a top-level GridGenerator, point prefabs at Server/Prefabs/, and verify with /os validate and /os why <entryId>.

Compatibility

OpenStructures works on its own as the structure hub. Optional integrations:

  • Content packs — any pack that ships OpenStructures (or legacy StructureV2) spawn-rule JSON.

Not a drop-in replacement for StructureV2 content: StructureV2 remains a separate structure pack with its own prefabs and boss island. OpenStructures is the shared hub + API; keep StructureV2 if you want that content, or migrate rules to the OpenStructures path.

Commands

Permission: openstructures.admin · aliases: /os, /openstructures

  • /os admin — open the admin panel
  • /os status — worldgen status and counts
  • /os why [entryId] — diagnose why nothing places at your feet
  • /os reload — reload spawn rules
  • /os list [world] — list spawn records
  • /os tp <index> — teleport to a spawn from the list
  • /os spawn <prefab> — paste a prefab at your position (e.g. Structure.Camp)
  • /os entries — list loaded spawn rule entries
  • /os validate — check prefab resolution and Pattern compile
  • /os nearby [radius] — show nearby spawn records
  • /os flush — force-save spawn data
  • /os clear — clear spawn records for the current world

Install tip: After updating the jar, fully restart the world. Do not replace the jar while Hytale is running.
