About this project

What does Hearthstead add?

Hearthstead

Hearthstead is a server-side Hytale protection mod designed to discourage “lawnbasing” and reward players for building real homes.

Players can stand inside a structure and use /hearth claim to validate it as a house. Hearthstead scans the interior using a bounded flood-fill system, checking for walls, a roof, optional flooring, a valid exterior door, and a minimum usable interior space. Once approved, the claim protects every chunk touched by that house’s interior footprint.

Protection is tied to the house itself—not an arbitrary claimed area. If players break or abandon their home, Hearthstead detects the invalid structure and starts a configurable grace period before protection expires.

Features

  • House-based claims that encourage intentional building over large empty claims.
  • Structural validation for walls, doors, roof coverage, floor coverage, interior size, and open spaces.
  • Support for irregular and concave house layouts.
  • Chunk protection based on the actual interior footprint.
  • Configurable protection grace period when a claimed house is damaged.
  • Trusted-player management for shared builds.
  • In-game admin settings UI for scanner, protection, and performance settings.
  • Detailed player feedback through /hearth check.
  • Admin tools for listing, inspecting, revalidating, and removing claims.
  • Safe handling of unloaded chunks and invalid configuration values.

Planned Features

The following features are planned and may change during development.

  • A richer /hearth check interface that displays the claim owner, trusted players, claim status, grace-period information, and other relevant claim details.
  • Support for larger buildings, including claims spanning multiple chunks and larger open interior spaces for more creative builds.
  • Visual indicators for claim boundaries, grace periods, validation status, and additional claim-related events.
  • Multi-instance and multi-world support, including a synchronization system for networks running multiple Hytale servers.
  • Additional storage backends, including RocksDB and MariaDB.

Hearthstead is only built for Hytale pre-release 0.7.0-pre.4 and will ship fully with Update 7 (Chapter 1).
