About this project
What does Whichaway add?
🧭 Whichaway
One world. Many adventurers. One shared map.
Exploration is better together!
Whichaway enhances Hytale's vanilla world map with persistent shared exploration, customizable player visibility, and optional Kindred and Man Down! integrations.
No fuss, no clutter. Just install and explore!
🗺️ Features
Shared Exploration: Everyone contributes to discovering the world, with progress saved across sessions and server restarts.
Expanded Exploration: Configurable terrain reveal radius.
Player Visibility: Show all players, Kindred party members, or yourself.
Vanilla Friendly: Preserves Hytale's familiar map and navigation.
Plug & Play: No commands or setup required!
🤝 Better Together Integrations
🎨 Kindred— Party Integration
- Party members appear in their assigned colors on the world map.
- Optional party-only player visibility.
❤️ Man Down! — Downed Player Integration
- Downed players appear as red directional arrows.
- Markers return to normal when players recover.
Both integrations are completely optional. Whichaway works independently!
⚙️ Server Configuration
Whichaway automatically creates whichaway.properties in its plugin data directory.
Default settings:
explorationRadius=16
persistentExploration=true
playerVisibility=ALL
explorationRadius: Terrain reveal radius in chunks (minimum: 1).
persistentExploration: Save discoveries between server restarts.
playerVisibility: Controls which player markers appear:
- ALL — All players.
- PARTY — Kindred party members only.
- SELF — Yourself only.
PARTY defaults to ALL when Kindred isn't installed.
Exploration is shared per world, with separate discovery data for each world.
🔒 Permissions
Enabled for everyone by default. To disable Whichaway for specific players or groups, assign:

🚫 Keeping It Simple
No teleportation. No commands. No custom waypoints. No extra menus.
Whichaway isn't trying to reinvent the map. It just makes exploring more rewarding and lets everyone share in the discovery.
✨ Adventure Awaits!
Every adventurer adds another piece to the map, and every discovery helps tell the story.
Whichaway — Go on, see what's out there!
