Rootling

Rootling adds a small nature-themed creature to your world that helps out with farming. You summon it by building a specific block structure and giving it an item, once it wakes up, it'll boost the growth of your crops nearby.

It's a pretty low-key addition, doesn't change how Minecraft plays, just gives your farm a little companion and a small growth bonus while it's around. If you're into farming, building, or just want something cute hanging around your fields, Rootling fits right in.

Introducing

Added Rootling, spawnable from a Mangrove Root block, with a moss block on top, then bone meal applied to the block.

Rootling can place bone meal at a fairly low rate (the aim is for it to be only a small help).

He interacts in a 3×3 area, which can be seen by right-clicking on him.

Do you want Rooling to stop moving? Use Mangrove Roots to root him and dig him up with shears!

You can now place multiple Rootlings next to each other. But before you set out to create an army of Rootlings, keep in mind that this isn’t really designed to be an advantage. When two (or more) Rootlings are placed close to each other, they become a bit shy around one another and don’t work at full capacity, so you won’t get double the output simply by grouping them together. Two Rootlings side by side will certainly produce a little more than a single one, but they’ll be far from reaching the yield you’d get by placing those same two Rootlings in separate areas, each working on its own plot. In short: don’t crowd them together. Spread them out if you really want the growth bonus to stack.
