About this project
What does Hungry Iron Golems add?
Hungry Iron Golems
A Minecraft mod that allows Iron Golems to heal themselves by consuming (certain) iron items!
Features
- Smart Healing: Iron Golems will automatically search for and consume iron items when injured
- Multiple Iron Types: Supports raw iron, iron nuggets, and iron ingots with different healing values
- Iron Lunchbox: A new storage block that golems can pull iron from automatically
- Configurable: Adjust healing amounts, search ranges, and health thresholds via config file
Iron Types & Healing
| Iron Type | Healing | Health Threshold |
|---|---|---|
| Raw Iron | 1 HP | 1%+ missing |
| Iron Nugget | 2 HP | 2%+ missing |
| Iron Ingot | 25 HP | 25%+ missing |
| Iron Block | N/A | 25%+ missing will break into ingots (when in Iron Lunchbox) |
The Iron Lunchbox
A barrel-like storage container that:
- Holds 27 slots of iron ingots and iron blocks
- Works with hoppers and other modded interfaces (tested with Ender IO item conduits)
Recipe: Craft with 4 iron blocks, 4 iron ingots, and 1 barrel

How It Works
- When an Iron Golem takes damage, it will look for iron items on the ground or in nearby Iron Lunchboxes
- The golem will choose the most efficient iron type based on how much health it's missing
- Golems prioritize ground items over lunchboxes if both have similar healing values
- After consuming iron, there's a brief cooldown before the golem can heal again

Configuration
Edit config/hungryirongolems-common.toml to customize:
- Healing amounts for each iron type
- Health thresholds for when golems will consume each type
- Pickup and lunchbox search ranges
- Cooldown between healing attempts
Compatibility
- Minecraft Version: 1.21.1
- Mod Loader: NeoForge 21.0.167+
- Works With: Ender IO, hoppers, and other automation mods
