About this project
What does DeathLogPlus add?
A utility mod that automatically saves your death information and provides a simple menu to review it later. All death logs are persistent, meaning they remain saved even after you restart the game, and are tracked relative to the specific single-player world or multiplayer server you are playing on.
Client-side only (no server installation required). Fully compatible with singleplayer.
Dependencies: Fabric & NeoForge require Architectury API (and Fabric API on Fabric). Forge requires no additional dependencies.
Free to use in any modpack — public or private, no permission needed.
What it does
- Death Log — saves date, time, and cause of death for every death.
- Coordinates — death location with a quick-copy button.
- Experience — experience level and total XP lost.
- Inventory Snapshot — your exact inventory layout, including tooltips and enchantments (hides when the window is too small to fit the grid).
- Persistent & Per-World — logs stay after restart and are tracked per singleplayer world or multiplayer server.
- Delete Entries — select a death and click Delete twice within 3 seconds to remove it (first click arms / turns red; changing selection disarms).
- Keyboard Navigation — Up / Down / Home / End; the list auto-scrolls to keep the selection visible.
Configuration
Open the interface with /deaths or the customizable (unbound by default) open-log hotkey.
The death log screen uses a two-line list on the left (timestamp over cause), a detail pane on the right (date as heading; Cause / Location / Experience as label + value; empty state: “Select a death on the left.”), and a footer with Delete + Done.
Details
- Client-side only.
- All data is stored locally in your client folder (
deathlogplus/deaths.json). - Storage path, JSON schema,
/deaths, and the unbound open-log keybind are unchanged from 1.0.2 — existing logs should load. - Fully translated into 10 languages: English, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean, and Italian.
- No builds for Minecraft 26.1 / 26.1.1 / 26.1.2 — stay on 1.0.2 for those, or move to 26.2.
