About this project
What does Better Smithing Upgrades add?
About
This mod expands the concept of smithing upgrades beyond Netherite, adding upgrade recipes for all tools and armor from Wood and Leather up to Diamond.
You can now keep the same gear throughout your playthrough and upgrade it along the way, without losing your enchantments!
Content
Basic Upgrade Smithing Template: Similar to the Netherite Upgrade Template but for lower-tier equipment. Can be found in most structures or crafted from Quartz and a couple other ingedients.
Iron Upgrade Part: Used to upgrade Wood, Stone, Leather or Chainmail equipment to Iron level. Craftable from 4 Iron Ingots. Can be found in many loot chests.
Gold Upgrade Part: Used to upgrade Iron equipment to Gold level. Craftable from 4 Gold Ingots. Quite common in loot chests but less than its Iron counterpart.
Diamond Upgrade Part: Used to upgrade Gold equipment to Diamond level. Craftable from 4 Diamonds. Quite rate, can only be found in certain structures.
Netherite Upgrade Part: Used to upgrade Diamond equipment to Netherite level. Craftable from 4 Netherite Ingot (gives x4 Upgrade Parts). Can be found only in the rarest and most difficult to access structures.
Base Edition vs. Advanced Edition
• The "base" edition adds the above content without altering the base game.
• The "advanced" edition adds the above content and removes vanilla crafting recipes for iron, gold and diamond equipment, forcing gear progression using smithing upgrades.
Pick the one that best fits your playstyle!
