About this project

What does Cobblemon Mount Mastery add?

Cobblemon Mount Mastery

Cobblemon Mount Mastery

The more you ride, the stronger your Pokémon gets. A full mount training and progression system for Cobblemon.

How It Works

Every time you ride a Pokémon, it gains training progress in the background. Hit enough distance milestones and its riding stats permanently improve. No grinding menus, no commands. Just ride.

Riding Modes

The mod detects exactly how you are riding and trains the right stats for it — no overlap, no cross-training:

  • Flying — only trains when the Pokémon is off the ground. Landing and walking on a flying Pokémon trains Running instead.
  • Running — trains when riding on the ground, including flying Pokémon that are currently grounded.
  • Swimming — trains when in water.

A Pokémon like Charizard that supports both Flying and Running has a fully separate training level for each mode. You level them up independently by actually flying or running.

Training Phases

Phase 1 — Training (Lv.1–35, per riding mode) Riding naturally increases stats specific to each mode, capped at the Pokémon's natural potential:

  • Flying — Speed and Skill
  • Running — Speed and Acceleration
  • Swimming — Speed and Jump

As training level increases, actual riding speed scales up proportionally — from vanilla speed at Lv.0 to +50% at Lv.35, with an additional bonus of up to +20% if overflow potential is reached, for a maximum of +70% speed over the base Cobblemon stats. Each stat boost is permanent and saved to the Pokémon.

Phase 2 — Stamina (Lv.1–25, shared across all modes) Stamina is shared — there is a single stamina level that applies to all riding modes simultaneously. It can be improved by riding any mode that has reached Training Lv.35, or at any time via Stamina Berries. Each level reduces sprint drain, scaling up to roughly 5 minutes of sustained sprinting at Stamina Lv.25.

Streak Bonus

Riding without stopping builds a momentum streak. The longer you ride continuously, the faster progress accumulates — up to a +40% bonus at the streak cap (~5 minutes of uninterrupted riding).

Riding Pager

Riding Pager — Right-click any rideable Pokémon to see its full training breakdown per riding mode: training level, stat bonuses, current speed in blocks/s, jump height in blocks, progress to next milestone, shared stamina level, and overall mastery percentage. Hold it while riding for a live HUD showing your current mode, training level, stamina level, speed, and jump height in real time.

Upgrade Berry

Upgrade Berry — Instantly applies a burst of training to all supported riding modes, pushing each mode's stats (Speed and Skill for Flying, Speed and Acceleration for Running, Speed and Jump for Swimming) toward their natural cap. Does not affect stamina.

Stamina Berry

Stamina Berry — Directly increases the Pokémon's shared Stamina level. Usable at any training level — no need to reach Lv.35 first. The upgrade applies across all riding modes simultaneously.

Mastery Rewards

When a Pokémon reaches absolute peak across every stat for every supported riding mode:

  • A permanent orbiting particle aura marks it visually
  • Riding it grants you Speed II

Extras

  • Underwater breathing — your oxygen bar never drains while riding a swimming Pokémon, so you never drown while mounted
  • Cobblemon Summary Screen panel — training levels and stat bonuses appear to the left of the Pokémon's summary screen, updated in real time as you level up Panel Showcase1 Panel Showcase2

Achievements & Milestones

Beyond the moment-to-moment training, hitting real milestones pays off with proper rewards — distance ridden, training levels, Stamina levels, fully mastering a riding style, and building a team of fully-mastered mounts. The better the milestone, the better the payout: starting with Exp. Candy and useful crafting items, and building up to Vitamins, a Lucky Egg, IV-boosting Candies, and Technical Machines for the toughest achievements in each category.

Distance Rewards

The more you ride, the more you earn. Every 20,000 blocks you travel on a Pokémon hits a Distance milestone and rolls the reward pool. Milestones pay out one at a time, so your rewards keep coming the longer you ride.

Each milestone can drop items from up to three reward groups at once. Most of the time you'll get a handy common item, often something better on top, and every once in a while you'll hit the jackpot.

Common — you'll almost always get one of these

Everyday supplies to keep you stocked while you explore:

  • Poké Balls & Great Balls
  • Cobblemon Potions & Antidotes
  • Iron Ingots, Coal, Redstone, Lapis Lazuli, String
  • Bread & Cooked Beef
  • Arrows

Uncommon — a nice bonus that shows up fairly often

Better catching gear, healing, EV-training items, and some real value:

  • Ultra Balls
  • Super Potions & Revives
  • EXP Candy (M)
  • IV-boosting Candies
  • Gold Ingots, Diamonds, Emeralds
  • Bottles o' Enchanting
  • Golden Apples
  • Enchanted Iron Pickaxe or Iron Sword

Rare — the jackpot, only now and then

The payoffs that make a long ride worth it:

  • Rare Candy
  • Quick Balls
  • Upgrade Berry & Stamina Berry (the mod's own training items!)
  • Rarer IV-altering Candies
  • Diamond Blocks & Netherite Scrap
  • Enchanted Diamond Pickaxe or Diamond Sword
  • Enchanted Books
  • Enchanted Golden Apples

Configuration

All settings are stored in config/CobblemonMountMastery.json and take effect on the next server start. If you have ModMenu installed, a config button appears directly in the mod list for in-game editing without restarting — including full editors for per-species tuning and every reward pool in the mod.

Visual & Audio

Setting Default Description
enableLevelUpSound true Plays a sound when a training level is gained
enableLevelUpParticles true Spawns particles around the Pokémon on level-up
enableMasteryAura true Shows the orbiting particle aura on fully mastered Pokémon

XP Rate Multipliers

Setting Default Range Description
ridingXpMultiplier 1.0 0.01–3.0 Multiplies progress gained while riding (1.0 = default rate, 2.0 = double speed, 0.5 = half speed)
berryXpMultiplier 1.0 0.01–3.0 Multiplies progress granted by Upgrade Berries and Stamina Berries

Distance achievements always use real physical distance regardless of the XP multiplier, so their thresholds remain consistent.

Daily Quests & Rewards

Setting Default Description
enableDailyQuests true Turns the 3 daily riding challenges on or off entirely
dailyQuestTargetMultiplier 1.0 Scales how far you need to ride to complete a daily quest
maxStaminaSeconds 300 How long (in seconds) a fully Stamina-trained Pokémon can sprint/fly/dive before resting
enableMasterBallRewards true If turned off, any Master Ball reward is replaced with Exp. Candy (XL) and a random Technical Machine instead

Per-Species & Reward Pool Tuning

Beyond the settings above, the in-game config screen (via ModMenu) lets you go much further without ever touching the config file by hand:

  • Species Overrides — pick any rideable species and customize its training entirely on its own: disable training for it, give it its own max Stamina duration, or adjust how quickly it earns stat boosts.
  • Reward Pools — edit exactly what can drop from Daily Quests, the Distance Relay loot pool, and every Achievement/Milestone reward, right down to adding or removing individual items and adjusting their odds and quantities.
