About this project
What does RNGTech add?

Minecraft + Machines + ARPG
RNGTech is a tech mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge where every machine you craft is a loot drop. Each one rolls a rarity and a set of affixes, like gear in Path of Exile or Last Epoch, so two Crushers from the same recipe rarely match. Keep the good rolls, refine them, and level them up as you work through nine material stages, from flint tools to exotic alloys.
2.0 is in alpha. This page describes 2.0. The passive tree and ascendancies are in the 2.0 alpha files on the Files tab; the default release file is still 1.2.0. Unique items and Corruption arrive later in 2.0.
Itemization
Machines, Gear parts, Battery Cells, tool parts, and companions come out of the crafting grid Unidentified. Identify one to see its rarity and its tiered prefixes and suffixes. A Magic furnace might come out as a Hellish Iron Furnace Chassis of Smelting.

Machines are built from parts
The chassis is the block you place. It sets base stats and caps how advanced its Gear can be. The Gear inside does the real work: the Crush Head decides how hard an ore a Crusher can break, and the Heat Core decides how hot a Furnace gets. Each part rolls its own rarity and affixes, separate from the chassis. When you craft a better part, swap it in. The machine keeps its own rolls and its Mastery progress.

Crafting has a budget
Each item also rolls Refinement Potential (RP). At the Affix Forge, single-purpose crystals, catalysts, and coils add, upgrade, reroll, or remove affixes, or promote rarity. Every change spends RP. When it runs out, the item is finished.

Machines level up
Crushers, Furnaces, Alloy Furnaces, Metal Presses, Resonance Calibrators, Melters, and the Forestry Companion earn XP from their work, and harder jobs pay more. Points go into a shared 1,346-node passive tree. Keystones ask for a trade: Steady State gives 50% more Stability for 15% less Processing Speed. Ascendancy Seals unlock a specialization tree for each machine family, and a build code copies a finished tree to the next machine.

One cable for everything
Universal Cable is cheap, with 12 per craft, and carries power, fluids, and items. The connector next to each machine decides what moves and how fast. To upgrade a network, you swap connector modules and leave the cable alone. With AE2 or Refined Storage installed, a network connector can also carry their networks over the same cable.

More to build
- Ore processing, alloying, metal forming, recycling, calibration, and fluid and gas chemistry.
- Nine generators, from the Solid Fuel Burner to the Potential Reactor, plus rolled Battery Cells and the Battery Chassis.
- Modular field tools built from a rolled head and rod, including 3×3 hammers and treefellers.
- A Miner's Companion that deletes cobblestone and other junk as you mine, pulls in drops, and lights the area around you.
- A Forestry Companion cart that plants and harvests trees along a rail line.

Compatibility
- Requires Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.228 or newer, and Java 21, on the client and the server.
- Optional: JEI for recipes and Gear lookup, Jade for machine overlays, and Applied Energistics 2 or Refined Storage for network bridges.
- Pack authors: an optional FTB Quests chapter set is available as an additional file.
