About this project
What does FineTimeTrial add?
What is this mod?
Fine Time Trial turns Minecraft into a speed racing arena. Now you can:
- Create custom tracks using a special builder wand.
- Race on any rideable entity (horses, pigs, striders, boats, custom mobs).
- Compete through a leaderboard system that saves the best results.
- Enjoy visual effects: particle rings at the start, portal gates at checkpoints, finish line effects.
Current Versions - 1.20.1 {FORGE}
Keep an eye on the creators discord page so you don't miss a new update!
Planned updates
- Multiplayer races.
- Level system.
- Reward system (e.g., daily).
- Championship system (multiple tracks in sequence with cumulative scores).
How does it work?
For regular players:
- Approach the track start — particles float above it.
- Mount any entity (horse, pig, etc.).
- Click "START" in the menu that appears — a 3-2-1-GO countdown begins.
- Ride through all checkpoints (highlighted by blue portals).
- Cross the finish line (black and white portal) — your time is saved to the leaderboard.
- Important: while you are running the track, other players cannot start a run on the same track. This prevents result conflicts.
For admin and track creators:
- Get the builder wand: /give @p finetimtrial:track_builder
- Press F7 — create a track with a unique name.
- Switch wand modes (Shift + RMB): Start — Checkpoint — Finish.
- Place points (RMB) along the route.
- Done. Any player can now run your track.
Controls
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| F7 | Manage tracks (create, delete, edit) |
| F8 | View all tracks and leaderboards |
| F9 | Start or stop a run |
| Shift + RMB (wand) | Switch mode (Start, Checkpoint, Finish) |
| RMB (wand) | Place a point for the current mode |
Features
- Universal — works with ANY rideable entity (vanilla or from other mods).
- Leaderboards — top 10 best results for each track.
- Visual effects — particles, portals, countdown.
- Permission system — configure who can create tracks and who can only run them.
- Persistent storage — tracks and records are saved between sessions.
- Localization — full support for Russian and English languages.
- Start is 1 block. Checkpoint and finish are 3 blocks.
- Race lock — while one player is running a track, others cannot start a run on the same track. This prevents results from being mixed up.
For servers
Permission setup: In the config/finetimtrial-common.toml file, you can set the permission level for track creation (0 = all players, 2 = moderators, 4 = operators).
