About this project

What does ThrowableTorches add?

JOIN_OUR_DISCORD MODRINTH

Lets you throw your torches instead of placing them one block at a time. Hold a torch and left-click — it flies through the air in a realistic arc, trailing flame and smoke, and sticks to the first surface it hits. Great for instantly lighting caves, ravines, high ledges, and dark corners without walking over to place every torch by hand.

throwing torches

Install on both the client and the server for multiplayer. Works in singleplayer — just drop it into your mods folder.

Dependencies: Fabric & NeoForge require Architectury API. Forge requires no additional dependencies.

Free to use in any modpack — public or private, no permission needed.

What it does

  • Throw a Torch — hold any torch and left-click to launch it. It flies in a real arc with an arm swing and a glowing flame + smoke trail.
  • Aim Anywhere — point at a wall, the floor, or just open air — you don't have to be looking at a block for it to throw.
  • Sticks Where It Lands — a standing torch on top faces, a wall torch on the sides — placed automatically wherever the torch comes to rest.
  • Never Waste a Torch — if it can't be placed where it landed (or it hits a mob), it simply drops as an item to pick back up.
  • Every Torch Type — works with regular torches, soul torches, and redstone torches — each one trails its own particle as it flies.
  • Survival-Balanced — one torch is consumed per throw in survival (free in creative), and throwing is rate-limited so a held button can't empty your stack in an instant.

Configuration

Zero configuration — no config files, no commands, no keybinds to set up. It works the moment you install it.

Details

  • Multiplayer needs the mod on both sides: the client detects your left-click; the server throws the torch and sticks it where it lands.
  • Fully compatible with singleplayer.
