About this project
What does [ Horror ] Quiet Visitor add?
You were getting used to the silence.
Then a name appeared in the chat.
Quiet Visitor is a Forge 1.20.1 horror mod built around plausible messages, patient timing, and the feeling that someone else has found your world.
An ordinary name in the chat
A brief hello. A question that sounds meant for someone else. Quiet Visitor begins with the kind of message you might almost ignore.
It notices what you are doing
Mining, caves, doors, rain, the time of night, and moments spent standing still can shape the next encounter. Sometimes the timing is the part that stays with you.
Give it time
Long pauses leave room to get back to playing. Encounters become more unsettling as you spend time in the world, with delayed follow-ups and a memory of recent scenes.
The departure does not explain it
Phantom joins and departures share the same visitor name. A short exchange can happen between them. Selected encounters can answer your chat with a delayed, scripted reply.
Keep listening
Rare, quiet footsteps or a door sound can accompany later encounters. Nothing has to break for the room to feel different.
Set your own pace
Choose from three intensity levels, change the waiting time, add visitor names or messages, and switch sounds, replies, or phantom visits on or off.
One mod for both message systems
Quiet Visitor combines the useful features of Horror Messages Forge and ScaryMessages into one scheduler. Replace both original JARs; if either is detected, Quiet Visitor pauses itself.
Private encounters
In multiplayer, each player receives their own encounters. The Forge server handles the messages and sounds; clients do not need Quiet Visitor installed.
A presence with limits
The dialogue is written and runs locally. There is no online AI connection. The mod does not place blocks, spawn a real visitor, damage the player, or move the camera.
You can ask for quiet
Use /quietvisitor mute to pause your own encounters and /quietvisitor unmute to resume. Operators have test commands, and the server config controls the overall experience.
