Combatives modernizes Minecraft Forge 1.7.10 with contemporary movement mechanics, improved combat presentation, and a physically inspired first-person camera system while preserving multiplayer compatibility and the feel of vanilla gameplay.
The movement system introduces fully synchronized swimming, crawling, and leaning inspired by modern shooters and newer versions of Minecraft. Movement and gameplay-relevant pose state are synchronized authoritatively between the client and server, with smooth visual transitions, proper collision handling, dedicated-server support, and safeguards against client-side configuration affecting gameplay behavior.
Combatives is designed to work in heavily modded environments rather than assuming the vanilla player model or movement stack. Compatibility systems allow custom player models, armor renderers, weapons, mounts, and other mods to inherit Combatives poses and aiming behavior without requiring them to completely replace their own rendering systems.
The camera system goes beyond traditional view bobbing by simulating player movement through layered physical motion rather than simple screen shake. Walking, sprinting, turning, jumping, freefall, landing, collisions, explosions, leaning, and mounted movement can all contribute subtle visual feedback that conveys weight and momentum without changing actual aiming direction or player mechanics.
Camera motion is presentation-only. Visual recoil, camera roll, head movement, inertia, and other effects do not alter the player's authoritative point of aim unless a gameplay system explicitly integrates through the appropriate Combatives APIs.
At the core of the camera system is the Entity Camera Behavior Framework, a modular runtime architecture that allows arbitrary entities to provide immersive camera behavior. Built-in implementations already support player movement and horse riding, while additional mounts, vehicles, creatures, and custom entities can integrate through the public API without modifying Combatives itself.
Developers can also use the Combatives Camera API to trigger custom camera effects from weapons, vehicles, abilities, explosions, or entirely new gameplay systems. Contributions pass through the same validation, accumulation, saturation, safety limits, and rendering pipeline to keep behavior consistent regardless of source.

Combatives includes compatibility infrastructure for mods that substantially replace vanilla weapon, player, or armor rendering behavior.
HandmadeGuns integration allows weapon aiming to follow Combatives' authoritative player point of aim across crawling, swimming, recoil handling, and other supported poses while keeping purely visual camera effects separate from bullet direction.
Flan's Mod custom armor rendering is supported through dedicated pose propagation so custom armor can follow Combatives player transforms, including crawling and leaning, without leaving stale or mismatched limb rotations when poses change.
The compatibility layer is designed around shared pose state rather than hard-replacing third-party renderers, reducing conflicts with mods that already perform extensive custom animation.
MorePlayerModels+ Compatibility
Combatives includes optional MorePlayerModels+ support, allowing custom player sizes and entity disguises to use correctly scaled hitboxes, eye positions, cameras, and targeting geometry.
Client and server interaction geometry remains synchronized so resized players retain accurate crosshair targeting and multiplayer interactions, including on dedicated servers. The integration is designed to preserve Combatives movement, aiming, and camera behavior while allowing MorePlayerModels+ to continue controlling player appearance and scale.
