About this project
What does Universal Container add?
Universal Container is a configurable Forge mod that creates functional container variants of existing blocks while preserving their original models, colors, shapes, and render layers.
Define the source block, registry ID, display name, and inventory dimensions in a simple configuration file. Generated containers support custom GUI sizes, item persistence, comparator output, hoppers, pipes, and other Forge item capabilities.
Oversized block shapes are handled automatically using invisible proxy blocks, allowing every occupied section to open the same inventory and interact with automation systems.
Features
- Forge 1.20.1 support
- Configurable source blocks
- Automatic or custom registry IDs
- Custom names and translation keys
- Inventories from 1–6 rows and 1–12 columns
- Up to 72 inventory slots
- Source model, color, shape, and render-layer preservation
- Resizable textured container interface
- Hopper and modded pipe compatibility
- Comparator output
- Automatic proxy support for oversized block shapes
- Dedicated creative mode tab
- Client and server support
Configuration changes require a game restart, and multiplayer clients must use the same configuration as the server.
