About this project

What does TFC Anvil Enhancer add?

TFC Anvil Enhancer

TFC Anvil Enhancer is a lightweight, purely client-side quality-of-life mod for TerraFirmaCraft (1.20.1, Forge). It solves the smithing minigame while you work and shows the remaining forging steps beside the anvil GUI, so you never have to count +7s and −15s in your head again.

✨ Features

Real-time anvil solver. A breadth-first search over the work value and the last three actions, so the sequence it shows is always a shortest one — and it is correct for every kind of recipe rule, including Any and Not last, which simple arithmetic approaches get wrong.

Step list beside the GUI. Numbered actions in the order you perform them, top to bottom. Completed steps disappear as you forge, and the list is recalculated after every hit.

Action icons. Each step is prefixed with TerraFirmaCraft's own icon for that action, taken from TFC's texture — so it matches the anvil buttons exactly, and follows your resource pack. Can be turned off.

Movable panel — works alongside JEI and friends. Item-list mods live along the same screen edge, so nothing is hard-coded: choose which side of the anvil GUI the panel sits on, nudge it horizontally and vertically, cap its width so long lines wrap instead of running under a neighbour, or scale the whole thing between 50% and 200%. If the chosen side has no room, the panel moves to the other one by itself.

In-game settings screen. Mods → TFC Anvil Enhancer → Config, with a live sample panel so you can see the size and wrapping while you adjust them. Everything is also editable in config/tfc_anvil_enhancer-client.toml.

Tells you when there is nothing to do. "Ready to finish" when the work value and all rules are already satisfied, "No solution found" when the target cannot be reached — instead of silently showing nothing.

100% client-side. No server installation needed; the jar does nothing at all on a dedicated server. Multiplayer-friendly.

Solves once, not every frame. The result is cached against the anvil's state and recomputed only when that state actually changes, so drawing the panel is a few text draws per frame rather than a search.

English and Russian. Action names come from TerraFirmaCraft's own translations, so they always read exactly like the buttons in your language.

🎮 How it works

  1. Put your heated metal on the TFC anvil.
  2. Pick the recipe you want in the anvil's plan screen — the overlay needs a target to aim at.
  3. The panel lists the exact actions to perform, first one highlighted.
  4. Work top to bottom; each finished action drops off the list.

Works with any anvil recipe that uses TFC's own forging system, addon recipes included.

🧩 Compatibility

The mod adds no blocks, items, recipes or network packets — it only draws on top of TerraFirmaCraft's anvil screen. There is nothing for another mod to conflict with, and no mixins into anyone else's code.

The only way it can get in another mod's way is visually, and that is solved by configuration: JEI, EMI and similar item-list mods claim the screen edges, so if the step panel lands under one of them, move it to the other side, offset it, narrow it or shrink it. All of that is in the in-game settings screen, and it applies immediately.

⚙️ Configuration

Setting Default What it does
Panel side Right Which side of the anvil GUI the panel prefers
Horizontal / vertical offset 0 Nudge the panel in pixels
Maximum width Fit the text Width cap; longer lines wrap
Panel size 100% Scales the whole panel, text included
Show action icons On Icon in front of each step name

📋 Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.20.1
  • Mod loader Forge 47.x
  • Dependency TerraFirmaCraft (developed and tested against 3.2.19)

💬 Feedback

Suggestions and bug reports are very welcome — especially about the overlay's placement, since everyone's screen and mod list are different.
