About this project

What does Cobblemon Skill Tree add?

Cobblemon Skill Tree

Cobblemon Skill Tree adds a massive progression system with 240+ skill nodes, giving players new ways to customize their adventure and specialize throughout their Cobblemon journey.

Rather than directly increasing a Cobblemon's battle power, the skill tree focuses on catching, training, breeding, harvesting, exploration, and general utility.

Choose your professions, specialize in Type Masteries, create your own build, or work toward unlocking the entire skill tree.

Features

  • 240+ skill nodes to unlock
  • Four profession paths:
    • 🏹 Hunter
    • 🎓 Trainer
    • 🥚 Breeder
    • 🌾 Harvester
  • Type Masteries, limited to two per player
  • Bonuses for catching, training, breeding, harvesting, and more
  • Three progression modes for different server and gameplay styles
  • Progression focused on utility rather than direct battle power

Profession Paths

The skill tree is divided into four major professions, each focusing on a different part of the Cobblemon experience.

🏹 Hunter

Focuses on finding and catching Cobblemon.

Improve your Catch Rate, Minimum Catch Chance, caught Cobblemon IVs, Shiny Chance, Spawn Rarity, and other collection-focused bonuses.

🎓 Trainer

Focuses on raising and training your Cobblemon.

Improve Battle Experience, Friendship Gain, EV Gain, and individual EV stat gains.

🥚 Breeder

Focuses on breeding and raising newly hatched Cobblemon.

Improve the IVs of hatched Cobblemon, including both general and individual IV stat bonuses.

🌾 Harvester

Focuses on gathering resources throughout the world.

Improve yields from Apricorns, Berries, Mints, Mulches, Herbs, and other useful Cobblemon resources.

Type Masteries

Players can specialize further by selecting up to two Type Masteries.

Type Masteries provide additional specialization based on the types you choose and are separate from the four main profession paths.

Choose carefully — each player is limited to two Type Masteries.

Progression Modes

Cobblemon Skill Tree includes three progression modes, allowing server owners to choose how players progress through the skill tree.

Default

The standard and balanced Cobblemon Skill Tree experience.

  • Choose up to 80 of the 240+ nodes
  • Encourages specialization
  • Makes individual skill choices more meaningful
  • Players create their own build rather than eventually obtaining everything

Full

Allows players to progress through the complete skill tree.

  • Access to all 240+ nodes
  • Faster skill level progression
  • Designed for servers that want long-term progression without a node limit

Split

Separates progression into four independent profession trees.

  • Access to all 240+ nodes
  • Faster skill level progression
  • Independent progression for:
    • Hunter
    • Trainer
    • Breeder
    • Harvester
  • Category-specific progression gains

The skill tree contains a large number of cumulative modifiers.

Cobblemon Skill Tree Commands

Cobblemon Skill Tree provides administrator commands for managing player progression.

Change Progression Mode

Change a player's progression mode:

/cobblemonskilltree mode <player> default
/cobblemonskilltree mode <player> full
/cobblemonskilltree mode <player> split

For example:

/cobblemonskilltree mode Steve default

Reset Player Progress

Completely reset a player's Cobblemon Skill Tree progress:

/cobblemonskilltree reset <player>

For example:

/cobblemonskilltree reset Steve

This erases the player's Cobblemon Skill Tree progression and restores the Default progression mode.

⚠️ Note: Resetting a player does not reset their Type Mastery selections. Type Masteries are managed separately through Puffish Skills.

Target Selectors

Minecraft target selectors are supported, allowing commands to target multiple players.

For example:

/cobblemonskilltree reset @a
/cobblemonskilltree mode @a default
/cobblemonskilltree mode @p full

Advanced Puffish Skills Commands

Cobblemon Skill Tree is built on top of Puffish Skills.

Server administrators can use Puffish Skills commands directly for advanced progression management, category management, troubleshooting, and testing.

These commands are especially useful when you want to modify a specific part of a player's skill tree without resetting all of their progression.

Manage Skill Points

Skill points can be manually managed for individual skill tree categories.

Add Skill Points

/puffish_skills points add <player> <category> <amount>

Example:

/puffish_skills points add Steve cobblemonskilltree:default_skill_tree 10

Remove Skill Points

/puffish_skills points remove <player> <category> <amount>

Example:

/puffish_skills points remove Steve cobblemonskilltree:default_skill_tree 10

Set Skill Points

/puffish_skills points set <player> <category> <amount>

Example:

/puffish_skills points set Steve cobblemonskilltree:default_skill_tree 80

Note: Skill points are tied to individual Puffish Skills categories. When using Split Mode, make sure points are granted to the intended profession category.

For example:

/puffish_skills points add Steve cobblemonskilltree:hunter 10
/puffish_skills points add Steve cobblemonskilltree:trainer 10
/puffish_skills points add Steve cobblemonskilltree:breeder 10
/puffish_skills points add Steve cobblemonskilltree:harvester 10

Category Management

Unlock a Category

/puffish_skills category unlock <player> <category>

Example:

/puffish_skills category unlock Steve cobblemonskilltree:hunter

Lock a Category

/puffish_skills category lock <player> <category>

Example:

/puffish_skills category lock Steve cobblemonskilltree:hunter

Erase Category Progress

/puffish_skills category erase <player> <category>

Example:

/puffish_skills category erase Steve cobblemonskilltree:hunter

Erasing a category removes the player's progress within that specific category.

Cobblemon Skill Tree Category IDs

The following Puffish Skills categories are used by Cobblemon Skill Tree:

cobblemonskilltree:default_skill_tree
cobblemonskilltree:full_skill_tree
cobblemonskilltree:type_selector
cobblemonskilltree:harvester
cobblemonskilltree:hunter
cobblemonskilltree:trainer
cobblemonskilltree:breeder

Progression Categories

Progression Category
Default Mode cobblemonskilltree:default_skill_tree
Full Mode cobblemonskilltree:full_skill_tree
Split — Hunter cobblemonskilltree:hunter
Split — Trainer cobblemonskilltree:trainer
Split — Breeder cobblemonskilltree:breeder
Split — Harvester cobblemonskilltree:harvester
Type Masteries cobblemonskilltree:type_selector

Reset Type Masteries

Type Masteries are managed separately from the main Cobblemon Skill Tree progression.

To reset a player's Type Mastery selections, erase the Type Selector category:

/puffish_skills category erase Steve cobblemonskilltree:type_selector

Then unlock the Type Selector again:

/puffish_skills category unlock Steve cobblemonskilltree:type_selector

This allows the player to make their Type Mastery selections again without resetting their other skill tree progress.

Reset One Profession

Individual professions can also be reset without affecting the player's other profession trees.

Reset Hunter:

/puffish_skills category erase Steve cobblemonskilltree:hunter

Reset Trainer:

/puffish_skills category erase Steve cobblemonskilltree:trainer

Reset Breeder:

/puffish_skills category erase Steve cobblemonskilltree:breeder

Reset Harvester:

/puffish_skills category erase Steve cobblemonskilltree:harvester

⚠️ Advanced Usage: Directly modifying Puffish Skills categories bypasses Cobblemon Skill Tree's normal progression mode management. These commands are primarily intended for server administration, testing, and troubleshooting.

For additional commands and configuration options, refer to the Puffish Skills documentation.
