About this project

What does KeeperCraft Mod Suite add?

KeeperCraft

TLDR:
Install Forge. Create a Superflat world with all layers removed, creative mode, and no structures. Go to the Keeper Craft Menu and load a map (just once). You can then create a lobby and either add a fake player, or have other people join your game. Seta aliances if you want. Make sure the player colors match the dungeon heart colors. Ready up and start.

For PVE, you can't sleep and mobs will head straight for your dungeon heart. They get more and more difficult each night. For PVE, get the highest score. For PVP, destroy the enemy dungeon heart. You can enable PVE mob attacks in a PVP match.

1. DIRT:

Most games have you dig dirt, craft logs, make a crafting table.

2. IRON PICKAXE:

If you need an iron pickax, on the crafting table, get 11 deepslate, craft stone pickaxe and furnace, mine iron, smelt it, make an iron pickaxe.

3. TORCH SHROOMLIGHT:

Put a torch on a ShroomLight to claim it. It allows you to spawn villagers when they have a job block.

4. COMPOSTERS:

Make about 5 composters. 5 farmers will come. Trade with one to get cookies.

5. EMERALD BLOCKS (4):

Mine 128 Emeralds and craft 4 emerald blocks. New job blocks require 4 emerald blocks plus another item type. Check the recipe book to see what they require.

6. BUY FROM VILLAGERS:

You can buy all the stuff for job blocks and traps from villagers.

7. MAKE NEW JOB BLOCKS:

Craft the next job block, and keep doing the same with each job block to build your army. Later you'll probably want to destroy some composters and insult a few farmers to make room for better villagers.

TIPS:

1. Seal Masons in a sealed room until you want to go blow things up.

2. It's probably a good idea in the very early game, to get a bunch of villagers (keeper glove right mouse) and post them where you want them to do destruction (rally flag).

3. Make Deepslate Brick walls to stop enemy players from digging through too fast. They take ages to break.

4. Also, you might want to set "enableHighRes true" in each of the configs to get the awesome looking traps and icons.

FULL DESCRIPTION:

KeeperCraft is a Forge 1.20.1 mod suite and map toolkit inspired by Dungeon Keeper. It turns Minecraft into a first-person dungeon strategy game where players build bases, command team villagers, gather gold and emeralds, place traps, cast spells, use teleporters, and try to destroy enemy Dungeon Hearts. PVE mode has you defending waves of mobs each night.

The full experience is designed for multiplayer arena matches, but the systems can also be used separately for custom worlds, maps, and server events. If you only want Soul Lantern teleporters, you can use the Teleporter jar. If you only want KeeperCraft villagers, you can use the Villagers jar with KeeperCore. If you only want traps, you can use the Traps jar with KeeperCore. Spells, Traps, and Villagers mods are better with the economy mod but traps can be acquired other ways. Icons are 16x16 but you can enableHighRes versions in their configs. For the complete game experience, install the full KeeperCraft suite.

Features

  • Team-based gameplay with Green, Blue, Red, and Yellow teams.
  • Dungeon Hearts with match victory and defeat rules.
  • Custom map loading and saving through in-game commands.
  • Villager portals, team villagers, combat roles, mood, happiness, and command items.
  • Economy recipes using Raw Gold, Gold Nuggets, Emeralds, and Emerald Blocks.
  • Placeable traps including lava, lightning, poison, blaze, knockback, alarm, and cart traps.
  • Castable Strength, Speed, Lightning, and Heal spells.
  • Soul Lantern teleporters with named links.
  • A bundled Dungeon Keeper-style starter arena.
  • Optional example maps ranging from reusable components to overworld castle battles.
  • Reusable map components that can be loaded into larger maps.
  • Configurable balance values for recipes, villager behavior, spells, traps, economy, mining, and match rules.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.20.1
  • Forge 47.4.20
  • Java 17

For the intended game mode, install all KeeperCraft jars on the server and every client.

Multiplayer

KeeperCraft is intended for multiplayer matches. Current multiplayer tested using Essentials mod.

Dedicated server hosting should also work in principle, but server owners should test their exact setup and configs before running a public event.

Basic Match Setup

  1. Install Forge 1.20.1.
  2. Put either the combined jar, or alternatively, all KeeperCraft jars in the mods folder for the server and every client.
  3. Create a clean world. Empty Superflat is recommended for arena play.
  4. Open the KeeperCraft menu.
  5. Load a map template.
  6. Click Lobby and put players on teams. Add alliances and choose PVE if you want.
  7. Ready players.
  8. Start the match.
  9. Defend your Dungeon Heart while trying to destroy the enemy Dungeon Heart. Or in PVE, fight of waves of enemies each night and try to get the highest score.

Included Maps And Map Creation

KeeperCraft includes tools for saving, loading, combining, and sharing map templates. The example maps show both a Dungeon Keeper-style arena and an overworld-style castle map with terrain, trees, animals, and farms.

You can also build maps from reusable components. Create a smaller section, save it, load it into a larger build, and then save that larger build as a complete playable map.

To create your own map, build in Creative, place Dungeon Hearts, assign teams, select the arena area, and save it as a .nbt map template.

Map files are stored in:
config/keepercraft_game_mode/maps

Players and server owners can share map files and config files to create custom KeeperCraft scenarios.

Config

KeeperCraft is highly configurable. Server owners can adjust major balance values such as villager stats, happiness, spell costs, trap damage, recipe values, trade prices, mining payouts, respawn time, starting resources, and Dungeon Heart health.

Existing generated configs are not overwritten by jar updates. To regenerate new defaults, back up and remove the old config file, then restart.

Status

This is an early community release. Feedback, bug reports, balance suggestions, and map ideas are welcome.
