Copper Age Backport Smart Sorter

Copper Age Backport Smart Sorter is an addon for Copper Age Backport that expands Copper Golems with multiple intelligent item-sorting modes.

Instead of simply moving items between containers, Copper Golems can now organize storage by matching items, item categories, or even the mod an item comes from.

Sorting Modes

Copper Golems can switch between 4 different modes:

Normal

Uses the standard Copper Age Backport item transportation behavior.

Use this mode when you want the Copper Golem to behave normally without any additional sorting logic.

Smart Sorter

Smart Sorter focuses on consolidating matching items.

Copper Golems will:

• Search Copper Chests for items to transport.

• Skip empty Copper Chests when looking for items.

• Prefer destination containers that already contain the same item.

• Prioritize containers with the largest amount of matching items.

• Consolidate scattered stacks into more organized storage.

This mode is useful when you already have a storage system and want Copper Golems to automatically combine matching items.

Category Sorter

Category Sorter automatically organizes items based on what kind of item they are.

Instead of requiring every item to already have a matching stack somewhere, the Copper Golem creates and maintains storage areas for different item categories.

Supported categories include things such as:

• Building blocks

• Wood

• Stone

• Ores and raw materials

• Ingots and gems

• Tools

• Weapons

• Ranged weapons

• Armor

• Food

• Plants

• Mob drops

• Redstone items

• Storage items

• Transportation items

• Brewing and potions

• Magic-related items

• Books

• Fluid containers

• Miscellaneous items

Category Sorter can also rebalance existing storage.

If items are already placed in the wrong category chest, the Copper Golem can detect them and move them to a more appropriate container.

Modded items are also supported through item properties and tags whenever possible.

Mod Sorter

Mod Sorter organizes items by their mod namespace.

For example:

• minecraft:* items can be stored together.

• Items from another mod are assigned to their own storage.

• Chests containing items from multiple mods can be automatically cleaned up.

Each mod can establish its own storage chest.

If the main chest for a mod becomes full, the sorter can automatically use additional overflow chests for items from the same mod.

This makes Mod Sorter especially useful for large modpacks with items from many different mods.

Intelligent Rebalancing

Category Sorter and Mod Sorter do more than sort newly transported items.

Copper Golems can inspect existing storage and correct containers that are already mixed or incorrectly organized.

This means you can place the sorter into an existing messy storage room and let it gradually reorganize the available items.

Improved Idle Behavior

Smart, Category, and Mod Sorters stay close to their working area when no sorting task is available instead of wandering far away.

As soon as a new valid sorting task appears, the Copper Golem automatically resumes working.

Persistent Modes

The selected sorter mode is saved with the Copper Golem and remains active after leaving or reloading the world.
