About this project
What does endsustain add?
EndSustain
Keeper of the Finale Path — an exclusive content mod built for CLOSING SONG.
1. Overview
EndSustain is a content-focused mod created exclusively for the CLOSING SONG modpack. It only runs in CLOSING SONG 1.6.3 or later and is not intended for standalone installation or other modpacks. It revolves around the "Finale Path", delivering a full active-skill system, finale boss mechanics, unique weapons, curios, story progression, and cross-mod compatibility protocols.
The mod is released under the MIT License.
2. Finale Path — Six-Tier Skill System
The Finale Path is the core progression system with six tiers. Tier order matches the CLOSING SONG storyline and actual boss challenge order:
| Tier | Skill Name | Attribute Bonuses |
|---|---|---|
| I | Void Crown | +10% Max Health, +5% Attack |
| II | Lich Soulfire | +15% Max Health, +10% Attack, +5% Movement Speed |
| III | Harbinger Power | +20% Max Health, +15% Attack, +4 Armor |
| IV | Abyss Echo | +25% Max Health, +20% Attack, 5% Damage Reduction |
| V | Old World Embers | +30% Max Health, +25% Attack, +4 Toughness, 8% Damage Reduction |
| VI | Apocalypse Ring | +40% Max Health, +35% Attack, +10% Movement Speed, 15% Damage Reduction |
Every tier has independent cooldowns, unlock checks, and network sync. Old saves have their witness flags and cooldown indexes migrated automatically to the new order.
3. Active Skill Details
Harbinger Power (Tier III)
- Key: X
- On hit, summons multiple focused lasers onto the target.
- Laser damage uses a snapshot of the player's attack damage at cast time, ensuring consistent output.
- Cooldown: 50 seconds.
Abyss Echo (Tier IV)
- Key: G (independent toggle)
- While the tidal tentacle is active, abyssal power surrounds the player and strikes nearby enemies.
- Bonus effects: Water Breathing, Regeneration II on land, and neutral attitude from Abyss creatures.
Tidal Grappling Hook
- Key: C (independent from the G-key tentacle)
- Fires a hook that pulls the player or target, with full chain rendering and retrieval-on-end logic.
- Built-in timeout protection prevents lingering hooks.
4. Endsustain Blade
The signature weapon of the mod. Its damage grows with playtime:
Damage = 745,700 × Playtime (minutes) + Enchantment bonus damage
- At around 48 hours of playtime, a single hit first exceeds the 32-bit integer limit, entering "Finale-tier" output.
- Overflow player kick: disabled by default. Enable with
kickPlayersOnOverflow = truein the config.
5. Finale Execution & Boss Compatibility
The mod ships a universal true-kill protocol (TrueKillUtil) for finale executions on bosses such as Apollyon:
- Kills by writing the true health field;
- Preserves normal death animations, drops, XP, and quest completion;
- No per-entity hardcoding; compatibility is handled at the generic protection layer;
- Training dummies are protected by the generic true-health protocol; pre-hit health is restored automatically when post-checks fail, preventing the "negative health, unattackable" issue.
6. Story System
- Includes the complete 11-chapter finale story (
story.json), with text matching the full CLOSING SONG storyline exactly. - The Finale Path screen shows story chapters and skill progress at any time; screen opening stability has been optimized.
7. Small Zhanjiang Companion
- Automatically granted about 2 seconds after a player first enters the world.
- Inventory and Curios slots are checked to avoid duplicates.
- Old faulty markers are auto-compensated; if the inventory is full, the item drops at the player's feet.
8. Configuration
Config file: config/endsustain-common.toml
Main option:
| Option | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
kickPlayersOnOverflow |
false |
Whether to kick the player on Endsustain Blade overflow damage |
