About this project
What does Sound Alert add?
Sound Alert is a lightweight, configurable Minecraft 1.20.1 client-side sound notification mod available for both Forge and Fabric.
It monitors important gameplay events and provides customizable audio alerts for:
❤️ Low player health 💥 Damage taken 🔧 Low item/tool durability 📦 Pickup of a configurable watched item ✨ XP gain 👹 Nearby hostile mobs
Each alert can be independently enabled or disabled and configured with its own Minecraft sound, volume, and cooldown. The mod checks client-side game state periodically rather than every tick to keep overhead low.
The project uses a shared, loader-agnostic common module, with lightweight Forge and Fabric adapters. Detection and sound playback occur entirely on the client using already-synchronized Minecraft state, so the mod does not add its own network traffic and is suitable for multiplayer environments.
