What does Hex Peripherals add?
Hex Peripherals
Lay a High Data cable across the ocean, walk away, and the circuit still works.
Hex Peripherals is a CC:Tweaked addon for NeoForge 1.21.1. It adds Network Exchange landing stations and High Data Exchange Cables so computers can talk over long, commissioned circuits. Intermediate chunks do not need to stay loaded. Forge Energy is billed from the sealed circuit length.
A Transversal Modem is required for native HTTP (http.*, wget, pastebin) and bills FE per byte. It also puts a firmware CC BIOS on every computer, turtle, and pocket computer, adds OpenComputers-style Hex chassis (CPU, RAM, internal HDDs, external Disks), and adds Personal Notes you can write, dye, sign, and bind like ComputerCraft printouts.
Cables are only plant. A link exists only after you commission a circuit.
Stock CC computer, turtle, pocket, and floppy crafts are disabled. Placed leftover vanilla computers and turtles become Hex PCs or turtles with a full T1 (normal) or T2 (advanced) kit. Old floppies become Hex Disks and keep their files.
Features
High Data circuits
- Place a Network Exchange with the front toward you. Cables attach only on the back optical port.
- Cables are waterlogged, hug the clicked face, and connect only to a neighboring cell. A stair or block-edge turn needs a cable in the corner cell.
- Encased or bracketed High Data ports stay centered, and thin cables that connect to them stay centered too.
- Sneak-use an exchange to read its 6-char hex address (
a3f91c). - From an adjacent computer:
getAddress,commission,decommission,ping,send,listCircuits,getEnergy,getRates. - Events:
hdx_message,hdx_circuit. - Turn energy off with

Transversal Modem
- Native
http.*,wget, andpastebinneed this block adjacent or on the same CC wired network. No turtle upgrade. Wireless rednet does not share it. - Uses ComputerCraft's own HTTP stack. Bills 100 FE per request plus 8 FE/byte sent and 4 FE/byte received (configurable).

Hex chassis
Hex machines only run after you install parts. Survival chassis crafts need Create.
- Craft a mainboard plus Andesite Casing (Brass Casing on Advanced) and a CC cable into a PC, server, mainframe, or turtle.
- Install at least one CPU and one RAM to boot. Pulling the last CPU or last RAM while running shuts the machine down.
- HDDs are internal (
hdd, extras ashdd2, …). The first HDD is also/, so CraftOS andstartup.lualive on that drive. Without an HDD the machine is ROM/BIOS only. - Disks are external 125 KB media for CC disk drives (
disk,disk2, …). Dyeable in all 16 colours. HDDs do not go in disk drives; Disks do not go in chassis slots. - Use a Screwdriver on a chassis to open the interior hardware GUI. Right-click still opens CraftOS; BIOS hold still works.

Counts are basic / advanced.
Parts (defaults, server-configurable): CPU T1–T3 (call budget 0.5 / 1.0 / 1.25, timeslice 25% / 50% / 100%). RAM T1–T3 (192 / 384 / 768 KB). HDD T1–T3 (512 KB / 1 MB / 2 MB).
Leftover machines: a placed vanilla computer or turtle becomes the matching Hex PC or turtle and is filled with a full T1 or T2 kit. Computer ID, label, turtle fuel / colour / upgrades, and leftover programs are kept (programs copy onto the first HDD). Command computers and leftover pocket computers stay as they are.
Floppies: computercraft:disk converts to a Hex Disk on pickup, in inventories, and in disk drives. ID, label, colour, and files are kept. Treasure disks and music discs are not converted.
CC BIOS
- Hold the sidebar power button for half a second (or run
bioswhile the machine is on). - Choose Normal boot, Boot from disk, Boot file, or Security.
- Supervisor password, user / power-on password, and Secure Boot live in world data — not a Lua file.
- With a Cryptographic Accelerator, enroll a
.signkeyand requirehexsignverification before CraftOS starts.
Personal Notes
- Craft paper with any dye. The dye is ink colour, not paper colour.
- Write on a 25×21 CC page, then Sign. The signer does not have to be the author.
- After a sign, craft a different dye to write and sign again below. Older signatures stay locked.
- Bind notes with string (and optional leather) using the normal CC printed-page / printed-book recipes.
Create (optional)
- Create recipes replace the vanilla part, High Data cable, Network Exchange, Transversal Modem, and stock CC cable / modem / peripheral crafts.
- Chassis, mainboards, and sequenced part crafts need Create. Without Create, vanilla table recipes stay for parts, cables, the exchange, and the modem — but you cannot craft empty chassis.
- Right-click a High Data cable or a bare CC wired cable with any
#create:casingto encase it. High Data cables form in the center while encased. Encased CC openings match the thin CC cable. Wrench restores the cable (casing is not returned). - Right-click those same cables with a wooden or metal bracket to hold them. High Data cables sit in a pipe cradle; CC cables stay centered in a shaft collar. Wrench returns the bracket.
- Right-click Andesite Casing with a Wired Modem to make a full wired modem. Wrench extracts the modem and leaves the casing.
Classic Peripherals (optional)
- A scanner reads notes as printouts.
- With a Cryptographic Accelerator,
scanner.scan()also returns a.cert.hexsign.verifychecks player signatures and the CA chain. - Printing that file with crypto attached stamps Certified Copy of Signed by.
- Digital keys on a computer (crypto required):
hexsign.generate,hexsign.sign,hexsign.certify,hexsign.verify.
Pack and server config
config/hexperipherals-common.toml— turn whole features off (networkExchange,bios,notes,http,createCompat). Off restores vanilla ComputerCraft HTTP whenhttpis false.<world>/serverconfig/hexperipherals-server.toml— FE costs, circuit length, HTTP rates, BIOS hold time, and hardware sizes.- Ship the common file in the instance
config/folder and copy the server file todefaultconfigs/so new worlds pick it up.

This mod was created for the Create Airborne SMP (Modpack).
Hex ships ccc ComputerCraft textures by sashakoshka as the default look and derives Hex chassis, part, cable, and GUI art from them. Another resource pack can still override those textures.
