About this project
What does Contract Board add?
Contract Board
Put one board in your server hub and let it hand out the work.
Players walk up to it, take a contract, go do it, and come back to get paid in items, coins and reputation. The board is shared, so everyone sees the same list and the same refresh timer.
Four kinds of work
| Contract | What it asks |
|---|---|
| Collect | Bring back a stack of something |
| Hunt | Kill a number of mobs |
| Craft | Make a number of items |
| Travel | Reach a biome |
The board builds itself
You don't write a file per bounty. You declare objectives and rewards in datapack pools, each with a value, and the mod combines them and scales them to the rank it's generating for.
Say once that an iron ingot is worth 12 and a diamond 45, and every tier of every contract follows from it. Six pools ship with the mod, covering farming, mining, hunting, exploration, the Nether, and a rank-5-only pool of contracts that exist nowhere else.
Add your own pools as a datapack, no recompiling.
Five ranks
Reputation is earned by working the board, and each rank opens more of it.
The board is laid out as a ladder, easiest first, so you always see the work you can actually take. A share of it is kept at rank 1 so there's something quick to farm no matter how far along you are. Contracts you finish leave your board until it re-rolls, once per in-game day, with the countdown on screen.
For server owners
Everything is tunable from the in-game config screen or the server toml: board size per rank, refresh interval, payout rates, rank thresholds, and how much of the board stays at rank 1.
The board is craftable by default: six planks, two sticks and a book, but you can switch the recipe off and the board stops being craftable for everyone on your server. Hand it out yourself and keep it to the hub.
Admin commands cover re-rolling the board, forcing a contract, and setting a player's coins or rank.
Every piece of text goes through a translation key. English and Spanish are included; adding a language is copying one file.
