About this project

What does Mortal Lifespan add?

Lifespan

A lifespan for every player. You age while you play. Youth, Prime, Experienced , Ancestor then the end... Unless you beat death himself and become immortal...

Features

  • Personal lifespan (default 120 Minecraft days, configurable)
  • Aging only while online
  • HUD with remaining days, colored by how far you’ve lived
  • Optional HUD suffix: Lifespan: 40 days · Prime (and (Immortal) in cyan)
  • Toggle the HUD with a keybind (Minecraft controls)
  • Phase kits: buffs and debuffs that change as you age (inventory icons, no particles)
  • Admin commands (OP only)
  • One death message: has died of old age (dark gray, italic)

Phases (default % of life lived)

Phase Range Role
Youth (green) 0–25% Early life
Prime (yellow) 25–50% Physical peak
Experienced (orange) 50–75% Know-how
Ancestor (red) 75–95% Elder
Dying (black) 95–100% The end / Legend

Thresholds and effect levels are all in the config.

Phase kits (2.0)

Youth — Speed · regen out of combat · full armor = slight slowness

Prime — Strength · Jump Boost

Experienced — Haste · bonus XP · know-how (tools + armor last longer) · knockback resistance · food is less filling · rare crises

Ancestor — Hero of the Village · bonus XP · beneficial effects last longer · immunity to harmful effects · Second wind · slowness + mining fatigue

Dying — Legend (reflect damage under 4 hearts + Wither on the killer) · heavier fatigue / slowness / weakness · crises in the last days

(Compound V/optionnal) V1 immortality freezes the phase you had when you became immortal. Nullify does not strip age kits.

Commands

Permission level 2 (ops).

Command Description
/lifespan set <player> <days> Set remaining days and personal max (-1 = infinite)
/lifespan add <player> <days> Add days
/lifespan remove <player> <days> Remove days
/lifespan max <player> <days> Change max without filling remaining days
/lifespan resetmax <player> Reset max to config default (clamps remaining if above)
/lifespan fill <player> Fill remaining days up to current max
/lifespan select <player> <phase> Jump to the start of a phase (youth / prime / experienced / ancestor / dying)
/lifespan crisis <player> Force a crisis (Experienced / Dying)
/lifespan phase <player> Show phase, %, days, immortal tag

Compatibility: Compound V (optional)

Lifespan works fully without Compound V. If it is installed:

Action Effect
Drink V1 Immortal (HUD ∞ + Immortal). Days and phase are saved.
Drink Anti-V Powers stripped → aging resumes exactly where it stopped.
Chest blast Same as Anti-V if powers are stripped.
Nullify zone Temporary: you age again from saved days. Leave the zone → immortality returns.

No hard dependency.

Notes

  • Time only counts while the player is online
  • Sleeping advances online time proportionally (not a full day per skip)
  • Creative and spectator: timer frozen, no phase kits
  • modEnabled in the config can turn the whole mod off
  • On death and respawn, lifespan resets to the config default
  • Made for survival, SMP, and semi-realist RP
