About this project

What does Maze Escape add?

📖 About:

Maze Escape drops you into a living labyrinth. You wake up in a box in the middle of the Glade, surrounded by stone walls that move every night. Solve the puzzles of the eight sectors, crack the exit code and step out into the Scorch - a burning desert full of ruined cities, mountain camps, buried depots and three abandoned bunkers. At its end waits the walled city of AEGIS and the tower at its heart - the only way back home.

Early Access / Beta: Many structures are still procedurally generated placeholders and will be replaced with hand-built structures, new textures, models and UIs before the full release.

The Maze

  • Shifting Walls: Every night the gates of the Glade close and whole wall segments slide into new positions. The path you knew yesterday may be gone tomorrow.
  • Eight Sectors: The maze is divided into eight themed sectors around a ring road, each with its own look, rooms and dangers. Timed walls open and close every few minutes.
  • Five Rings: The maze grows larger, darker and more dangerous the further you get from the Glade - with more traps, more sculk and wide boulevards in the outer rings.
  • Puzzles & Vaults: Solve puzzle rooms - pressure plates, levers, buttons, hedge mazes, ruin climbs, pillar forests and floating stairs - to earn sector keys. Sector keys open the vaults, vaults hold the symbol keys, and symbol keys open the symbol courts.
  • Rune Network: Rune stones in the Glade, the symbol courts and at the exit form a teleport network. Discover them to travel through the maze in an instant.
  • Rooms to Discover: Libraries full of loot, dungeons, Nether corners, ruined portals, regrowing ore shafts, excavation sites, parkour challenges, deadly pitfalls, safe shelters and tiny villages hidden deep inside the maze.
  • Living Glade: Crops keep growing, flowers bloom, and every few days the box brings fresh supplies.
  • Traps: Spike traps, arrow traps and hidden pits wait in the quiet corridors.

The Watchers

  • Night Hunters: At night, Watchers dig their way out of the ground and hunt anyone still out in the maze. At sunrise they burrow back down.
  • Sculk Infection: A hit can infect you with sculk - darkness, slowness, weakness and hunger that only get worse. It spreads to nearby players, and milk won't help. Only a golden apple cures it.
  • Rewards: Slain Watchers drop rune compasses that lead to the symbol rooms - and sometimes a compass straight to the exit.

The Scorch

  • Endless Desert: Dunes, mesas, red sand and burnt land under an orange sky, with deep caves, ores and rare ancient debris far below.
  • Highlands: Mountain ranges rise above the desert - forests, snowy peaks, animals and fortified outposts guarded by pillagers.
  • Ruined Cities: Small settlements to huge metropolises with leaning towers, bare steel skeletons and furnished offices, kitchens, infirmaries, stores and armories full of loot.
  • Broken Highways: Overpasses on tall pillars connect the cities - some collapsed, some swallowed by the dunes.
  • Datapads, Maps & Depots: Decode AEGIS datapads to locate the bunkers, follow treasure maps to buried AEGIS depots and dig up the gate keys hidden inside.
  • Radio Masts: Link the radio masts at the bunkers and the complex to your rune network and travel between the maze and the desert.
  • Heat: The sun wears you down until you suffer a heat stroke. Shade, night, water and a leather helmet keep you cool.
  • Sandstorms & Hordes: Thick sand fog, spinning compasses and packs of fast husks and skeletons that hunt you through the night.

The Bunkers

  • Three Bunkers: Three half-buried outposts are spread across the Scorch, each leading three levels deep into staff quarters, laboratories, an arena and a reactor core.
  • Blast Doors: Every door only opens once all trial chambers in front of it are cleared - no running past the fights.
  • Trial Spawners & Vaults: Earn trial keys and open the vaults for their rewards.
  • The Reactor Warden: A guardian waits at the bottom of every bunker. Defeat it to earn an Access Core and a Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template.

The AEGIS Complex

  • The Wall: A massive wall surrounds the city. Its gate only opens with three Access Cores and three Gate Keys.
  • Slums & City: Shacks and camps outside the wall, a dark, neon-lit city patrolled by AEGIS guards inside.
  • The Headquarters: Climb a towering skyscraper floor by floor - laboratories, containment and archives, full of enemies, spawners and vaults. Find the access cards and defeat three mini-bosses to open the bulkheads.
  • The AEGIS Core: The final boss waits at the top. Defeat it, step onto the landing platform and escape home.

The Choice

Stay in the Glade where it's safe, or run the maze before the gates close. Maze Escape doesn't wait for you - the walls move whether you're ready or not.

  • Netherite can only be found outside the maze.
  • Full advancement tree that guides you through the whole journey and explains the rules of the world.
  • Helpful tooltips on every item that works differently - hold Shift for details.
