About this project
What does Palladium Optimizer add?
Palladium Optimizer
Performance fixes for modpacks that use Palladium addons. Each fix works on its own and only turns on for the mods you actually have installed. You do not need Echoes of Power, A New Corps or any specific addon installed. Whatever is missing is simply skipped, and nothing breaks.
Fix 1: Faster game startup with large Palladium addons (new in 1.1.0)
The problem
Palladium loads KubeJS scripts from inside addon mods. For every single script, it creates a brand-new resource pack object for that mod, just to read one file.
With ModernFix installed (very common in modpacks), every new pack object builds a full index of the mod's jar the first time it's used. So a big addon gets its entire jar re-indexed once per script.
Example from our modpack: Satsu Iron Man Addon (about 7,800 files and 190 client scripts) was re-indexed 190 times, freezing the loading screen for about 30 seconds.
What this mod does
Palladium now reuses one pack object per mod instead of creating a new one for every script. The jar is indexed once.
- Same scripts, same order, same content. Mod jars don't change while the game is running, so reusing the pack gives exactly the same result.
- In our modpack, startup went from ~135 s to ~91 s with Satsu Iron Man Addon installed, which is the same time as without it.
- It works for any Palladium addon. The bigger the addon, the bigger the gain. Without ModernFix the gain is small, but it's still safe.
Fix 2: Server lag from Echoes of Power / A New Corps tick scripts
The problem
Two KubeJS scripts shipped inside these addons run every server tick (20 times per second) and loop over every entity in every loaded dimension, in JavaScript:
- Echoes of Power –
kubejs_scripts/property.js: for each living entity, it builds a list of 7 checks and callspalladium.setProperty7 times, every tick. - A New Corps –
kubejs_scripts/breedingtest.js: loops over all entities every tick just to find projectiles with thepinktag.
On a busy server with a couple thousand entities loaded, that adds up to tens of thousands of JavaScript → Java calls per tick. The server falls further and further behind ("Can't keep up!") until the watchdog kills it with "A single server tick took 60.00 seconds".
What this mod does
When the server loads its scripts, Palladium Optimizer swaps out only the expensive tick loop in those two files. Everything else in them stays untouched.
- Echoes of Power: the entity scan now runs in Java and calls the same
palladium.setPropertyas the original. An entity is skipped only when it has none of the 7 EOP tags and already had all 7 properties set tofalseon the previous tick. In that case the original script would just writefalseoverfalse, which in Palladium changes nothing and sends no packet. - A New Corps: the script now receives only the entities that have the
pinktag, and its original logic runs on them unchanged.
The result is the same as the original scripts, with a much lower cost per entity.
Optional mods: install only what you use
| If you have… | What happens |
|---|---|
| Echoes of Power | Its tick script is optimized |
| A New Corps | Its tick script is optimized |
| Any Palladium addon with KubeJS scripts (e.g. Satsu Iron Man Addon) | Faster startup |
| ModernFix | The startup fix gives its biggest gain |
| None of the above | That part does nothing and nothing breaks |
You can have all of them, some of them, or none. Each fix is independent.
Safety
- The tick fixes are applied only if the script matches the exact version they were made for (Echoes of Power 3.3.0 and the current A New Corps). If either addon updates and the code changes, the mod leaves it alone and writes a warning to the log. It will never patch a script it doesn't recognize.
- The startup fix uses one small optional mixin in Palladium (tested with Palladium 4.5.9). If a future Palladium version changes that code, the mixin simply isn't applied. There's no crash, and the game loads like it would without this mod.
- No changes to other mods' files.
How to check it's working
Look for these lines in logs/latest.log. Each one only appears if the matching mod is installed:
[Palladium Optimizer] Cache de packs de mod do Palladium ativo (evita reindexar o jar a cada script).
[Palladium Optimizer] Correcao aplicada: addonpack_eop:kubejs_scripts/property.js
[Palladium Optimizer] Correcao aplicada: addonpack_a_new_corps:kubejs_scripts/breedingtest.js
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.20.1 – Forge 47+
- KubeJS 2001.6+
- Palladium 4.x
Everything else (Echoes of Power, A New Corps, ModernFix, other addons) is optional. See the table above.
Installation
Put the jar in the mods folder of the client and/or server.
- Client: faster game startup.
- Server: tick fixes, and faster startup for addons with server scripts.
It is not required to join a server. Players without it can connect normally. It also works in singleplayer.
Notes
- One edge case: if an admin manually sets one of these 7 EOP properties with a command on an entity that doesn't have the matching tag, the original script would reset it on the next tick and this mod won't.
- This is an unofficial fix and is not affiliated with the authors of Echoes of Power, A New Corps, Palladium or ModernFix.
