About this project
What does Hydrostatic Pressure add?
Hydrostatic brings configurable underwater* depth hazardous zones and immersive to Minecraft. Created mainly for modpacks, it adds to the basic underwater mechanics by bringing to the game dynamic pressure zones, low-pass audio dampening, depth hallucinations, and seamless modded gear integration.
*While originally created for worlds with deep oceans, it can be easily configured for vanilla minecraft worlds.
Key Features
- Dynamic Pressure Zones: Configure custom depth boundaries (Y-level based) where environmental pressure begins taking effect. Define specific damage scaling, minimum thresholds, and custom damage sources.
- Configurable Atmospheric Fog & Vision: Independent client-side controls for dynamic underwater fog that scales with depth.
- Decompression Sickness: Ascending too quickly from extreme depths inflicts adverse effects if ascending speed is not properly managed.
- Suit & Gear Degradation*: Environmental pressure slowly degrades armor.
*Only gear explicitly rated for depth zones takes degradation damage, leaving standard items untouched .
Client-Side Audio
- Low-Pass Filter Muffling: Sound pitch and volume gradually dampen as you dive deeper into ocean trenches.
- Sound Hallucinations: Unprotected divers in extreme depths may experience audio hallucinations—hearing mob sounds echoing through the dark.
Modpack & Compatibility Features
- Mobs & Items: Assign depth immunity to custom entities or water mounts/vehicles, using item/entity tags on the desired zone line in the server config file (Ex.:
"zone3 = mod_id:entity_id, ...ormod_id:item_id"). - Biome/Dimension Control: Enable pressure globally across all biomes and/or dimensions, or restrict to specific biomes, using whitelists and blacklists (ocean biomes by default).
- Dependencies: No dependencies at this time.
- Compatibilities: Most if not all mods should be compatible (including Create: Deep Sea submarine sub-level).
For easy configuration of the mod main settings, two config files are generated in the config folder:
1. deeppressure-server.toml: Stores game-logic settings for Pressure Zones, Entity/Item zone rating, and biome/dimension whitelists and blacklists.
2. deeppressure-client.toml: Stores client-side visual and audio preferences for Audio Muffling, Halucination (false) Sounds and fog depth settings.
If you have any suggestions for improving the mod or are having issues making it work, leave a comment.
