About this project
What does Forset Biomes [Forge] add?
I have a Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge mod called ForestBiomes that reshapes the Overworld
into a progression of three forest biomes arranged in concentric rings radiating outward
from the world spawn point.
LAYOUT
- Oak Forest (minecraft:forest) occupies the center. You spawn in it.
- Spruce Forest (minecraft:taiga) forms a ring around the oak forest.
- Dark Oak Forest (minecraft:dark_forest) covers everything beyond the spruce ring.
- Approximate distances: oak extends to ~1600 blocks from spawn, spruce to ~4800 blocks,
and dark oak fills everything past that.
BORDER SHAPE
The borders between biomes are not circles. Each boundary wobbles in and out by roughly
+/-500 blocks using sine harmonics of the angle around spawn, producing lobed, organic,
coastline-like shapes with deep bays and peninsulas. The wobble pattern is derived from the
world seed, so every world generates a different layout. Neighboring compass directions can
have noticeably different biome distances from each other.
TREES
Tree density is roughly 83% higher than vanilla, with an average of about 120 tree log
blocks per chunk. Trees of mixed species (oak, dark oak, birch, and the occasional large
mushroom) are packed closely together, creating thick, continuous canopy rather than the
sparse spacing of a vanilla forest. The ground is heavily shaded by leaves.
PRESERVED VANILLA BEHAVIOR
- Terrain, hills, valleys, rivers, lakes, and oceans are completely unmodified vanilla generation. The biome changes do not affect land or water shapes, so the ring boundaries
cut across oceans, lakes, and coastline just like any other biome border. - Underground cave biomes are untouched. Deep Dark, Dripstone Caves, and Lush Caves all
generate normally beneath the surface. - The Nether and The End keep their full vanilla biome generation and are not affected.
DESCRIBE THE WORLD
Write a vivid, immersive description of exploring this world. Cover what a travelerexperiences as they walk outward from spawn: leaving the open oak woods, crossing into the
darker spruce forest, and finally pushing into the heavy, shadowy dark oak forest. Mention
the dense tree cover, the wandering non-circular borders, the unchanged lakes and oceans
crossed along the way, and any cave systems encountered underground.
