About this project
What does Blueprint Crew: Builders add?
Builders live in huts out in the world. Hire one for a few emeralds, draw what you want built in a 3D editor, peg the blueprint out on the ground and hand it over: he digs the site out, fetches blocks from your chests and builds it layer by layer. Give the same blueprint to more builders and they work it as one crew. Tunnels, roads and walls can be laid along a curved route hundreds of blocks long.

How it works
- Find a builder's hut: a plank cabin under a steep spruce roof, with a half-built brick wall and a scaffold in the yard. Huts turn up in plains, meadows, forests, taigas, savannas and cherry groves.
- Hire a builder: right-click him to see his price, some emeralds and one more thing (bread, iron, coal or steak).
- Draw a blueprint: craft blank blueprints (2 paper + 1 blue dye → 2), name the building, give it a size (up to 48 blocks each way) and draw it. Or copy a building that already stands.
- Peg it out: use the blueprint on the ground. While you hold it, the building stands there see-through.
- Mark the store: sneak-use the blueprint on up to 16 chests or barrels, and put materials and food in them.
- Put him to work: use the blueprint on the builder. Up to eight builders can work on one building.

The editor
- Brush, eraser, replace, picker and box, filled or hollow (walls, floor and roof in one go).
- Shapes fitted to a box: circles and round towers, balls, domes, cones; stood on edge, upright rings, arches and gables.
- Builder's wand: click a face and every block like it on that surface grows a layer. A floor rises, a wall gets thicker; on a chessboard, click a black square and all the black squares go up.
- Blocks go down turned the way the game turns them for a player: stairs, slabs, logs, torches, doors. Stairs make their own corners, fences and panes join up.
- The ground around the site is shown, and what the crew will dig out is tinted red.
- Materials list, undo and redo, resizing, moving the whole drawing.

Routes: tunnels, roads, walls
Draw a profile (the cut through a tunnel, a road or a wall) and lay it along a route on a map of the land around you, with a cut along the route showing the ground at every step.
- Up to 64 points and 512 blocks: curves, rings (a wall round a castle, a moat) and branches that join up.
- A deeper profile repeats along the route: a road five blocks deep with a lamp in its middle slice gets a lamp every fifth block, round bends and on the diagonals too.
- A new road snaps onto an old one and carries it on without a kink.
- The crew builds a stretch at a time. Once the work is more than 48 blocks from the store, it sets a chest down near the work and keeps it stocked. Several crews can share a long road, up to 32 builders.

Builders get better
Every builder has three skills from 1 to 10. A builder from a hut is a beginner (1 to 4); the better he is, the more he asks.
| Skill | 1 | 10 |
|---|---|---|
| Skill | sets a block in 1.5 s, digs at 40% of a player's speed | 0.4 s, digs 30% faster than a player |
| Stamina | a point of food lasts 22 s of work, a breather every 18 blocks | 45 s, every 72 blocks |
| Strength | carries 32 items at a time | 320 |
Every block set or dug out is experience: level 2 takes 40 blocks, level 10 about 11,400. Each level makes one of his skills a point better.
Talents
About three hut builders in ten come with a talent. The rest learn one from a talent book: found in builders' huts, or crafted (shapeless) from a book, 4 emeralds and:
| Talent | Also needs | Does |
|---|---|---|
| Fighter | iron sword, iron axe | Fights monsters that come near him, go for you or his crew, with the best weapon in his pockets; takes one from the store if he has none. Leaves creepers alone, runs when badly hurt. |
| Careful | 2 obsidian, grindstone | His tools and weapons wear half as fast. |
| Diver | pufferfish, nautilus shell | Does not drown, and digs under water as fast as on land (everyone else is five times slower there). |
| Fireproof | 2 magma cream, blaze rod | Fire and lava do not hurt him. |
| Swift | 2 sugar, rabbit's foot | Walks a quarter faster. |
| Mentor | book and quill, bookshelf | The rest of his crew gain 50% more experience while they work with him. |
| Concrete maker | water bucket (the bucket comes back), cauldron | Makes the concrete the site needs from concrete powder in the store, with a bucket of water and a pickaxe, in a small trench he digs near the store and fills in again. |
Crews
Press J for the crews screen: make crews, move builders between them, rename and disband them. A crew keeps together from one site to the next. Up to 16 crews per player.
Monsters
Monsters that hunt villagers hunt builders too: zombies, drowned, illagers, ravagers, and other mods' monsters that go after villagers. A builder who cannot fight runs, and goes back to work once it has lost him. It can be turned off in the settings.
Settings
config/blueprintcrew.properties, written the first time a world starts:
keepChunksLoaded(false): keeps the chunks round builders at work loaded, so they build with nobody near;keepChunksRadius(3) sets how many, 3 to 6.workSpeed(1.0): how fast every builder works, on top of his skill.experienceRate(1.0): how fast builders gain experience; 0 means never.monstersAttackBuilders(true): monsters go for builders as they go for villagers.
